All he’d wanted to do was to surprise his partner, maybe even shock him a little! Scare him just a tiny bit to put a different expression on his face other than the stoic one he usually wore. All morning he’d been hiding in his partner’s phone waiting to jump out at him, and well... maybe it was true what humans said about karma.

He felt the phone drop onto the sidewalk, but Ai was sure the missing item would be quickly picked up and so he waited... By the time Ai peeked his head out of the screen to see what was going on, he was alone in the phone on an empty street.

Ai groaned and allowed his head to fall forward and smack the screen of the phone. He was already trapped in this phone until tomorrow, and now it looked like he would also be stuck on the middle of the sidewalk if no one came to pick him up.

There were people on the other side of the street, but no matter how loudly Ai called to them, they couldn’t hear him. He was about to give up and make an embarrassing phone call for someone to come pick him up when he noticed that finally someone was walking down his side of the street. A girl with dark hair, probably somewhere around his age.

Standing up to his full height of six-inches, he starts waving his arms and shouts, trying to get her attention.

“HELLO!”

“I could really use some help here!”

Shulk now knew that the strange metal and glass slabs were called ‘phones’ and everyone seemed to use them constantly. Someone had told him that even his money was attached to this thing, so he figured he would have to figure out how to use it eventually. Not to mention his natural curiosity with technology was beginning to become overbearing and his phone was almost always at the forefront of his mind now.

Sighing as he sat on a nearby bench, he adjusted the wooden sword slung across his back so it wouldn’t poke him. Not his sword, but an unfamiliar weapon in an unfamiliar place was still better than no weapon at all.

Pulling out his phone again, he poked at the different icons. Some he had been able to figure out pretty easily -- the red rectangular one played videos apparently uploaded by different people in the city -- but many still eluded him, such as the blue bird or the one the brought up the number pad that beeped when you pressed any of them. It seemed like a useful device for someone who knew how to use it, which he didn’t.

He looked up, somewhat frustrated, when he noticed his bench had another occupant; a girl a few years younger than him by looking at her. Feeling like he was giving up, but also acknowledging he was getting nowhere by just poking at the phone’s screen, Shulk decided it was finally time to ask someone else for help.

“Hello, I imagine you have one of these phones too.” He showed her his own for emphasis. “Would you mind telling me what their main purpose is supposed to be? Also, this ‘Dust’ currency... how would one go about extracting it?”

He realized he never introduced himself and could practically hear Dunban scolding him: ‘Manners, Shulk!’

“My name is Shulk. What’s yours?”

For some reason people hate it, yet I’m not really sure why. Some people think it looks unprofessional, while others don’t? I don’t know. Oh, right, my opinion of it… To be honest I don’t really hate it, but I don’t use it often.

“Okay, well...I now know what comic sans is, so thank you for that. I...don’t know why it’s a question on our job application or why I’m answering these but I’d be glad to have another investigations intern. We have quite a few detectives, so I’m sure you’ll learn a lot from...all of us. Welcome to the agency, Haruka.”

« what do you mean it’s 2019?! and how is it pretty much winter, it was the middle of summer just yesterday! are you telling me time travel’s a part of all this now? » it was a lot to wrap his head around without throwing dates into the works. viewing the date as three years prior to the release of the game the 10,000 had been locked within was... well it was a lot.

“I wonder what this is supposed to be... It looks like something Ray would carry around.” Being a child who grew up in one of the farms, Emma never got to see much technology. Even though things like phones and lamps existed, they were seldom used in Grace Field in favor of more old fashioned methods of living.

... The item she was fidgeting with was a cell phone, something she had certainly never touched before.

“Eh... Onee-chan, can you tell me what this object is?” Emma suddenly turned to the passerby closest to her, holding out the phone in her hands. “Is it supposed to be a phone? I’ve never seen one like this before.”

     Despite months of being on this secluded island, and being part of it's twisted games. Lance has failed to acknowledge some of the gems it has to offer. No matter how much he wishes he could take off and leave this place he figured that he's done enough shut-in time. That and some of the places he frequented were starting to become a bit boring for his taste. One can only visit the same place multiple times a week so many times before it starts to ware them down. So he decided to take it upon himself to explore the wonder that is Little Tokyo. He remembers that while he was off learning about space exploration and how to become an astronaut. His sister would indulge herself in the world of anime and manga. He's watched a few here and there with her just because she asked him too, and what kind of brother would he be if he turned her down? Plus she was pretty persuasive scary when she wanted to be. A place like this would've suited her nicely. Well not the island in general more so this specific location.

     Although now that Lance has found he has a bit of time on his hands, he figures he should try to expand his knowledge of the genre a bit more. After all, the worse that could likely happen is that he starts to want to develop a collection. Which all and all wouldn't be such a bad thing, his wallet highly disagrees. Walking into a nearby shop he glances at the selections. And if he were honest he was a bit overwhelmed, he was aware that there would be a lot to choose from. But he had failed to realize how much that actually meant. Where did he even want to start?

    ❝ Um excuse me... ❞  He tried to get the attention of near bystander. ❝ I know you don't work here but I was wondering if you had any recommendations. Im kinda new to all of well... ❞  He gestured towards the selves upon selves filled with manga. ❝ All of this and I’m not to sure how to go about it.  ❞

Raito’s found interest wandering around, quite a bit, hasn’t he? It’s been a little while, but he eventually seems to, every time. This time, he’s found someone who looks pretty interesting to him.

He pokes his head around to look over her shoulder.

“Hey, miss? What’cha listenin’ to?”

He’s curious, to say the least.
