Battlebond: Valor (Chapter 2)
Purefalls (Streams)
“So, you’ve seen all of this in a game?”, Nat looked at Viset sideways. Viset was shuffling playing cards and he pulled the top card and it started glowing, “It was a card game, popular too depending on who you ask.” He threw the card into the water which splashed up--
Saltwater Stalwart knelt at the edge of the water as if awaiting orders. Viset explained that he was summoned to see if he could copy the merfolk’s appearance. He’d figure since casting was so easy that his shapeshifting would be just as well. Nat couldn’t help but laugh at his frustration, and then kicked him into the water; “Merfolk are native to the water--” “And grass! We’re not landless as most people assume.”, Stalwart exclaimed while Viset rose out the water.
Viset and Stalwart glanced at each other and summoned a pillar of water to splash Nat for kicking him into the water, feeling just cause she was helpful doesn’t mean it was necessary. “What’s your damage, Viset!!!”, Nat casted a Call To Heel on Saltwater Stalwart and the merfolk vanished. “I want out of here!! And I can’t! I can’t--”, his head sank as he shifted back, “This place is a dream come true but-- to know I can’t go back, anywhere but back is a nightmare.” Nat joined him in the water and raised his head until their eyes met, “I have no doubt there’s a way, none at all-- Thing is, we’ll never know if we were to sit here and sulk. I know it’s been months but look at you now, we should be exploring together! We’re ready for the arena! We, you hear me, us! I’m not alone in this anymore and that’s because of you, now this place is anything but a nightmare to me.” The sun was setting as if to hide from the moon as it rose.
He was speechless, up until this point he really only worried about himself but realized that he hadn’t been alone through all of this. If anything he should be even more understanding seeing as she’s been here longer than him. Nat put her clothes on the side of the stream while transformed before his eyes; first her fur, her claws, her face, then her shaping which surprisingly just complimented her. Her eyes spoke to his thoughts, “You have such a heart without a reason, even now you don’t think I’m really any different.” She signaled for him to track her into he forest, her fur glowed as she ran into the grass. Viset put their clothes in a satchel and begin to transform, it was becoming easier and less crunchy. After a stretch and a deep breath in, he trailed her, following her scent when he didn’t see her tracks. “Please tell me you’re not making this easy for me.”, he thought while picking up his pace only to run smack dab into some tall plains. “Crap!”, he lost the scent-- or perhaps. Viset crouched low and then jumped as high as he could and saw exactly what Nat had been doing. He leaped from one little circle she made to another until he was out. Nothing, “No scent, but-- There!! Tracks.”
