All this talk about shit doctors reminds me of a visit I had this summer. I have a weird congenital vision disorder and have been medicating it for years with one drug. This asshole doctor looked at me in the eye and said I don’t think it works. And I was like I’ve been using it for nearly 10 years, I think I would know if it didn’t work. And his underlings in the room were all standing awkwardly and one even pointed out that my drug has been shown to be helpful to my condition. He said I guess I’m not going to change your point of view and I was thinking fuck you and your useless, baseless opinion that I should go off my meds. I refuse to go back to him even if he’s the only person in that damn hospital who can give me my driving certification.

I have a policy against going to male doctors for a reason. I have faced off against too many condescending jackasses.

Go into settings, click accessibility, and scroll down to the bottom and click “accessibility shortcuts” there are multiple options, such as reduce white point, where if you go into display accommodations, you can increase the hue of your screen to lower contrast. Because of my vision disorder, I put mine on yellow. This helps tremendously. Here’s some pictures.

Did you know that Retinitis Pigmentosa has a prevalence of as high as 1:750 in Central Rural India and 1:950 in urban South India? What exactly is Retinitis Pigmentosa? It is the most common inherited disease of the retina (a thin layer of light sensitive tissue at the back of the eye). It is also related to various syndromes such as Usher Syndrome, Bardet-Biedl syndrome etc. Loss of night vision (inability to see in dim light) is the first sign of RP during childhood and it slowly deteriorates the vision as the child grows older and can lead to blindness in adulthood. RP is genetically heterogeneous which means many genes are associated with it so diagnosis of RP can be very complex. A lot of people on here are talking about how disabled people are getting accommodations because of this pandemic, and it's unfortunate they only got accommodations because of the pandemic.

As for me, I feel less accommodated. My class requires to me learn from the textbook if we don't have class; due to the content we learn it is understandable (AP Psychology). My teacher, when we have class, does lectures on the subject instead of us taking notes from the book. I appreciate that massively.

I have a vision disorder that results in my comprehension being undermined. Despite my best efforts, reading a textbook is extremely difficult for me in terms of comprehension.

As a result of this pandemic, I'm left to learn this content by myself, with little resources that can provide the same adequate information I need by audio. I am going to struggle to learn for this class.

Please be mindful that the pandemic has ruined some peoples ability to learn effectively.
