CTS B - Week 12 Compulsory Question 2
After doing a revisit of my design vision statement, I can say that my vision was not really clear enough which made me get a lot of different comments from my classmates. I really looked up with one of my classmateās questions āhow can you design to impact on people/ industries?ā, because I remembered I donāt write of how impactful my design can bring to people around. So here is my newest design vision statement.Ā
My strength right now is in illustration and UI/UX design. And actually I didnāt say that Iām an expert on those aspects, but I'm a person who always wants to keep learning if I have a strong commitment. To be clearer, my art style in the illustration is still unknown cause Iām still finding and exploring an art style that I can stay consistent to draw. And to be clearer for UI/UX, I actually just dived into it this year and I still have not much experience in it. But hearing from other peopleās compliment of my web/app design, I felt that I have a strength and talent for web/app design. I want my designs used by industries (if possible) and for people too. I wanted my illustration used in the web/app design that is easy to understand and easy to access as well, and I wanted my works to give a positive spirit to lots of different people. In 5 years, hopefully I can be a freelance designer/illustrator, working for an industry/ people that give positivity on empowerment, spirituality, mental health, etc. The specific steps that I have to do for now is building a strong portfolio, start to improve skills by doing lots of practice, and build connections as well.
One of my works that connects my vision statement is this illustration which is about women empowerment. This was actually a portrait for my illustration class and I chose a women empowerment theme for the portrait. I choose this theme because I really want my work to resonate with my vision statement and my goal as to bring and spread positivity to all people around.Ā
I see my design vision statement is connecting to one of the CTS B topics in week 3 which is connecting practice with society. That is true when design is not just about how it looks, but design is more than just a form. Design is related to each other (Mark Anil Matthew, 2024). This article makes me change my perception in the design field, which I think I have to think about how impactful my design is to the target audience I want to achieve (people and industries).Ā
