Back in 2009 I was the lead editor on a documentary titled 'Awakening the Skeena', which followed a woman who swam over 600km from the headwaters of the Skeena River to the ocean. I spent about 5 months digging through footage, building interviews and putting together this movie, all while staring at these beautiful landscapes and locations she was in. The documentary was well received, toured the festival circuit and won awards, but it wasn't until after that I realized how jealous I was of the film crew who got to travel through this area. I didn't know it at the time, but it was digging through all that footage that started a shift in my mind - to be the person out in nature shooting it, instead of spending my time on the computer looking at it. It took me 7 years, but I'm incredibly happy to see this area first hand, and shoot through my own lens. @VisitPrinceRupert #visitprincerupert (at Prince Rupert, British Columbia)

Breaking the silence. I recently spent some time along the Skeena River through to Prince Rupert in Northern British Columbia. This was a special trip for me to be up in this area, because the Skeena River has played a huge role in where my career and life is at today. I'll tell more of that story throughout the week as I share some images from this beautiful, and wild land. @VisitPrinceRupert #visitprincerupert (at Prince Rupert, British Columbia)
