Been through the AIS course, the VFR theory and VFR simulation. Now it’s on-the-job training. It’s been over a year of training and over 7 months of stress and little sleep. Simulation was... well... I really don’t want to do that ever again...
...and that was back in June or July. For whatever reason, I just couldn’t put adequately express my thoughts and feelings at that time. The on-the-job training phase concluded about a week or so ago and no it’s checkout (work mostly on your own and the supervisors and your trainer decide if you are competent enough to perform your duties without supervision/monitoring).
Training was good, to be honest. Learned a lot. And it gave me the time to get over the nerves I always have when dealing with potentially stressful and new things. Still do too much overthinking on occasion, which bleeds into my transmissions on frequency sometimes but it gets less every day and with every stumbling block I get over. Everyone seems to have confidence in my group of trainees and my trainer has already shared her expectations of me.
