you are visualizing size wrong (a guide to scale) 📏👀
Designing on a laptop is dangerous because everything looks the same size when you are zoomed in.
We see this mistake constantly: A customer designs a beautiful poster, but they use 12pt font. On screen, it looks readable. On a 24" x 36" sidewalk sign, it looks like a speck of dust.
The "Sidewalk Rule" If you are printing a sign, you need to understand the viewing distance.
20" x 30" (The Movie Poster): Meant to be viewed from 3-5 feet away. Good for indoor events, bedroom art, or menu boards.
24" x 36" (The A-Frame): Meant to command attention from 10-20 feet away. This is for street traffic.
Don't Guess the Bleed. We created a downloadable Template Guide for these standard sizes. It includes the "Safe Zones" (where your text should be) and the "Bleed" (where the background image needs to extend) so you don't end up with ugly white borders.
