The Fatal Addiction

Those of you who hunt blank bodies will know well that they often keep retainers who are manically devoted to their masters. The secret to this connection is the blood. A blank-body will feed their charge a mouthful of their unloving blood and flood their mind with some of the best feelings in the world, and those feelings are directly associated with the fiend that fed them.

I would know, I spent a few years addicted to the stuff. I was unlucky enough to be losing a fight to one of the leeches, and a bit of her blood spilled in my mouth. Ichorous sludge. But then I swallowed. On one hand I wish I hadn't, on the other I'm glad I did. Gave me the strength to overpower the beast and mend my wounds. The pain I felt when she died a final death was unbearable, but what was worse was the craving for more. Stronger, younger, healthier. It was the ultimate performance enhancing drug.

I had a shady sorcerer on contact who I sourced occult items from, he had a line on blank-body blood. Called it Vitae. That bastard took all my money and ruined quite a few relationships I'll never be able to mend. That thick blood had a hold of me.

Took me a strong community and a lot of support to kick the habit. And my merchant moving towns. Withdrawals went hard. Very hard. I think I'll always crave the rotten stuff. More reason to kill every leech on sight. Never trust a fucking vampire, even a dead one.
