🌙- How do they spend their nights do they go out? Stay in?

Vittal will spend most of his night balancing practicing swordplay with hobby activities like harpsichord/piano, brainstorming fashion designs/keeping up w the latest fashion news online. Occasionally he goes out to play at some bar for extra cash.

WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED, HE’S A TEACHER NOW. SO UH. I GUESS HE GOES TO TEACH @taimatrolls Elaina and when their lessons are done he goes back to the usual stuff? He probably takes some time every week to plan out lessons, too. 

Caelon has no routine. His nights are just spent running around to search for Kinfee, but also taking in the sights of the city and trying out cool new things he never got the chance to do in his wasteland hive!

☉- what keeps them up at day? 

Vittal will sometimes get caught up in thoughts of his short lifespan and how his life will likely be ultimately insignificant. When that happens he’ll often grab some wine.

Caelon will lie awake thinking about Kinfee, and what he will eventually do when he finally catches him. What will Kinfee be like? What will he have to do?

🏘- Who are your trolls neighbors? 

As far as I know, neither of them have neighbors o: they live kinda remotely. Especially Caelon, who lives in the middle of a wasteland underground.

☄- What do they wish for or want? 

Vittal wants to become a fashion designer! Sadly, he’s kinda resigned to the idea that he won’t be able to due to his lowblood status, and has made a more “realistic” goal: becoming Alternia’s fencing champion. Also he wants financial stability.

Caelon wants to be a great hero like his (not actual) ancestor!! That’s about his only great goal in life and most of his desires surround it.

Aside from that he also wants a quadrant to be cute with, meeting his biggest crush (@taimatrolls Starla), and touching a boob.

🍸- do they have any bad habits?

I’m not sure if it counts as a habit, but Vittal will be extremely subservient to even the nicest of highbloods and tends to interpret everything as a threat or sign that he needs to shut up. He also has a resting bitch face so.

Caelon has a tendency to catergorize people as heroes or villains, as we all know. Usually, those not fitting into either of these are sorted as “boring”. He also has trouble admitting he’s wrong, due to his self-image as a hero and the idea that heroes (at least the hero he strives to be) don’t make mistakes.

do you have any trolls that HATE the holidays? a total scrooge for the 12 perigrees celebration

Most of them are neutral at worst, to be honest! Vittal doesn’t really celebrate it all that much, but that’s probably changing more and more now that he has actual friends who’d wanna invite him places LMAO 

Tbh its probably cuss I’m really biased towards loving the holidays, so that ends up bleeding into my own characters

Day 30: Strings

Continuing Inktober for writers with a drabble of Vittal.

Vittal cursed under his breath, thanking his lucky stars that his needles were not need to be sharp enough to draw blood. His thumb still hurt, though, not helping his struggles to keep his silken materials straight. Sewing, as it turned out, was quite hard. At least, when holding it to his standards, where any slight misaligning was unacceptable. 

There had been a few times by now, where he had genuinely considered simply abandoning his hopes of learning the craft. He had gotten by well enough so far by outsourcing this work, so what if it cost some extra? At least he wouldn’t have to wait so long to get anything done.

Sadly, his pride would not allow that. There was something that forced his hand, the feeling that he could not perfectly convey his work, if it wasn’t done by his own two hands. Even before he had the means to begin learning, he hadn’t been happy with others making the clothes for him. Back then, he had simply grinned and beared it, but now he had no excuses!

He reached for another spool of thread, embroidening yet another color into the pattern of the dress. He tried to keep his workshop neat, but strings and needles laid askew across his table. Every time he made a mistake, he would grow more impatient, more irritated, too distraught at his lack of perfection to organize. 

Finally, he placed the embroidered material on the table, taking deep breaths. It... Wasn’t perfect. It would have to do, though. Elydra had convinced him - after a hard battle of non-commital stonewalling - that if he kept slaving over minute details, he’d tear himself ragged. It was all part of the learning process.

Day 6: Shy

Catching up on prompts I missed for Inktober for writers with a drabble of Vittal and @goddesstrolls‘ Hera.

Vittal bowed deeply before Hera. “Now, you shall return the bow or offer a courtesy,” he told her. Mayhaps she already knew, but he found it better to be safe than sorry. “Then, take my hand as so.” He held out his hand, and she accepted after a moment, letting him pull her along with him. 

“I step forward, like so, and you step back. Good, good, you got the simple steps. Now, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3...” He announced every step he took, so that she could react alongside it, letting him lead the pair in lazy circles across the stone floor of his hive living room. It was perhaps not the most elegant of dance studios, but with a gentle piano tune playing from his stereo, and furniture moved aside, it was sufficient. 

“You’re doing great, Madam,” he encouraged her, offering her an encouraging smile. She returned the smile, then suddenly seemed extremely focused on their footwork. Perhaps he was moving too fast? 

“Thank you, I-” she had to stop herself to make sure she didn’t step on his foot. “I’m thankful for the help with- With this.” She seemed to handle the footwork perfectly well...

“Think nothing of it. I owe you plenty for the help in the past- And besides, I am always delighted to have a dance partner.” She seemed to handle the steps well enough. Time to include something more advanced. “Now, I am going to spin you, all you have to do is let me guide you along the way.” 

Hera was a great student. She listened to all of his instructions with great intent, and as Vittal spun her away from him, she followed along fluidly, and just as smoothly did she come back. Vittal caught her, one arm around her waist and the other holding her hand, and dipped her. Her eyes flew wide in alarm, but his arms held; Fencing had shaped them into strong instruments, after all. Once she seemed safe in his grip, Hera let herself relax, her hair cascading behind her like a waterfall, her crimson eyes meeting his. 

That eye contact felt like minutes. The music faded away, distant in comparison to their heart beats, quick and unsteady. She looked stunning like this. Was her heart beating faster? Was his?

Vittal swallowed and pulled his partner up, bringing himself out of whatever-that-was to give an encouraging smile. “Excellent form, Madam, you will be the bell of the ball this 12th perigee. Let’s take it from the top.”

Day 8: Fright

So, I fell behind for roughly a week due to birthday activites, BUT I’m back on track! We’ll see if I try to catch up with the prompts I missed. 

Anyway, here’s Inktober for writers with a drabble for Vittal.

The brightly lit ballroom bustles with excitement. An entire spectrum of coldblooded trolls in splendid dresses and sharp, custom-tailored suits intermingle, raising their crystaline champagne glasses to drink from champagne expensive enough to feed a troll for a perigee. One of them laughs out loud.

Is it me? You wonder. Or is it my employer? You look over to the blueblood adjusting her tie. She had hired you as a bodyguard for the event, claiming your reputation as a fencer proceeded you. Fair, perhaps, but a highblood coming with such a lowblooded escort simply made her look bad. 

It makes you stick out like a sore thumb. Even with a well-tailored suit, you are underdressed compared to all the trolls here, with their personal designers working day and night to make unique and artistic attires. You would wager any one of these suits are worth their weight in gold. Some of them seem to be made from gold.

A seadweller, his fins adorned with diamond chains, smirks at you. He knows something I don’t. He’s going to try to kill her, isn’t he? No. No, he’s grinning at the color of your eyes. Rusty red, the bottom of the barrel. You force yourself to smile back at him and dip your head respectfully. Any slight towards the wrong troll in here will get you killed. 

Your eyes dart across the guests. Any threats to your employer? Don’t look so paranoid. You can’t seem distrustful, or someone might take offense, or even just frighten you further for the sake of amusement. Smile and nod as you search, you remind yourself. 

The blueblood employer hands you a drink. She tells you to relax and enjoy the festivities, but you think you see something dark in her eyes. She is testing me, I’m sure of it. “A kind offer that I must decline. I wish to carry out my duties uninhibited.” You carefully explain, watching every word as not to offend. The dark look in her eyes remain, but her tone is friendly when she compliments your professionalism. 

Why is she still angry? Your chest tightens. This will be your life for the next few hours.

⍤☺☃☘ for Vittal

⍤ : What does your muse’s voice sound like? Is it light? High pitched? Scratchy? Deep?

It tends to be ruined by all the stuttering and nervous backpedaling, but Vittal has a pretty smooth voice, medium range. He speaks really quietly, too, basically never ever raising his voice to a shout and very rarely adding any edge to it. When he does raise his voice, though, he tends to speak very fast and forcefully.

☺ : What is your muse’s smile like? Do they smile often?

Vittal got a really nice smile! He smiles so rarely, even when trying to come off as polite - he just keeps a neutral expression nearly at all times - so when he does smile, it’s always genuine. His eyes light up and he kinda perks up with his entire body, it’s cute.

☃  : What is your muse’s favorite season? What about their least favorite season, if they have one?

Vittal’s favorite season is probably winter. It’s so cold, so everyone can wear three-piece suits and thick, fancy coats, while fancy indoor fashion is still valid. He also finds the crystal clearness of ice and snow to be enchanting, he jumps at the chance to make winter dresses because he can work with lots of crystals and glass. 

His least favorite is possibly summer? He doesn’t like the heat, his pretty hair gets sticky, and everyone wears sandals and crocs. Plus, the heat means a lot of people keep to simple, thin clothes, so he doesn’t get to go as wild with his designs. 

☘ : Does your muse believe in luck? How about fate?

He kinda.... Does but also doesn’t? He wants to believe in karma and luck because he wants to believe good things will come his way for all the shit he’s been through (which has actually been validated with his new well-paid job). 

At the same time, the cynic in him doesn’t feel like any threads of fate exist. Life is what you see in front of you, and no invisible hand is going to miraculously change that. He can’t rely on it; he has to accomplish everything by his own actions. He even considers people who believe in fate a bit naive, but at the same time envies the conviction?? 

Bottomline: It’s a complicated mess of cynicism versus hopefulness in him.
