you know what’s interesting coincidence? sonic’s birthday is 6/23 and metal’s birthday is 9/23, both birthdays are on the 23rd while 6 and 9 are considered mirrored numbers: even their birthdays are mirrored counterparts to each other

there's a scene in archie sonic comics where amy cries because she heard from robotnik saying "metal sonic and sonic are engaged!" (they're both fighting) and she thought that sonic is getting married with metal sonic which she's sad because she wanted to marry sonic which implies: one, she's fine with sonic marrying a guy and her only issue that she didn't got to be one to marry him thus she's fine with gay marriage and two, she don't mind that guy whom sonic marries a literal murderous robotic copy of himself!

speaking of metal sonic getting worse, i think he should get even more worse from the power of love where love motivates him to be destructive just like how he's equally driven by hate

like metal sonic's love confession to the one that has given so much love and care to him: "I cannot quantified of my entire being over how much i love you... so I've decided to show you as thanks for your own love to me... from now on, I'll destroy this world and everyone then remake into perfect world just for you and me"

doubly so metal causes the one that loves him to get worse and choose to follow him as he gets worse with like: "if it comes down to it... I would choose the real sonic"

this is genuinely amazing. i wholeheartedly agree mostly because love and hate are two sides of the same coin; how would metal come out to be if his motivation shifts from hate to something just as intense as love?

his hatred for sonic fueling him to get better each time, to be even stronger, a more perfect being than sonic ever was and ever will be... that same amount of passion shifting into love fueling him to choose sonic every single time not because he wants to destroy him but because he starts believing his purpose lies in understanding him and taking care of him

the more i talk about this the more i really need to start publishing my unfinished pieces i've written throughout the years i've been a metonic fan LOL. i think they're so interesting in that they can be so incredibly unhealthy as well

the official jp cd manual also states that metal sonic is made with type of metal that is result of meteorite impacts meteors are seen as both beautiful and destructive: notably sonic canonically finds metal sonic beautiful after he blows up in that official sonic channel sonic and metal sonic story

shooting stars are actually meteorites that burned up upon falling down in the atmosphere of the earth: super sonic resembles a shining star and there’s a scene in sonic frontiers where he flies which he looks like an actual shooting star, there's a lyric in undefeatable song with "I'm what you get when the stars collide!” neo metal sonic’s head has a perfect star shape and he becomes a shining star in super state which shows how dangerous and intimidating he is: super sonic’s quills is also star shaped but it’s imperfect shape because he’s a natural organic being and his presence is felt as awe, hope, joy of him saving the day you can say super neo metal sonic is the artificial star that tries to outshine the natural star in sonic

metal sonic is a copy of him: usually when someone sees a copy of themself exploding is with terror but sonic? he goes woah so beautiful~, he’s an absolute freak

i can't believe i never answered this, i'm SO sorry! but oh my god yes. i think one other reason i really love metonic aside from sonamy is because it makes sonic feel both as an unreachable god from metal's perspective and well, just a fucking freak from his own perspective LOL. it's simultaneously an effective dynamic to make metal question his own existence (especially because well. he HAS to get destroyed every time they interact which is another can of worms we also have to open) while also acknowledging sonic being into this is seriously freaky for him

it's funny that sonic sees good in metal sonic and thinks he can become good when like the very first thing that he had seen metal sonic doing is metal sonic beating up innocent animals as shown with the metal sonic holograms at sonic cd and how metal sonic keeps trying to kill him every damn time in various ways

sonic doesn't have rose tinted lens where red flags are regular flags to him: he sees metal sonic with multiple red flags and a big glowing neon sign directly pointed at him with words that say "HE CANNOT BE FIXED" which sonic's all "i want him and can fix him!" at metal sonic

i think the whole "sonic sees good in metal sonic" plot point came from idw, not from the games, but i could be wrong. i don't really read or interact with idw that much save for a few arcs here and there since i don't really... like the characterization or writing of amy, sonic, and metal sonic altogether, but i won't really shit on anyone who does love idw!! it's just not my cup of tea.

i do agree that sonic doesn't have rose tinted glasses LOL. sonic knows full well what he's going into, he understands that metal sonic is incredibly dangerous and has hurt people before and may continue to hurt others, but that's the fun part—err not the hurting others part but the fact that sonic can just go on adventures, find this guy terrorizing people, and end up going on a journey to stop him. in a way, it's fun being able to go against metal sonic himself, and if he's able to save people along the way, that's a cool bonus to it!

i don't think he'd want to fix metal sonic in the "i know you're good" kind of way; i think he'd want to fix metal sonic in the "you also deserve freedom way because i know you're capable of it; i've literally seen it before" way. he understand that this guy runs on pure anger and hate towards him, and he's willing to take that in stride. what he wants for metal sonic is for him to have the option to do things for himself instead of just being eggman's pet especially since he's known to be rebellious but constantly gets lobotomized in canon just to keep him at bay.

tl;dr: sonic would see the bad in metal sonic and think, "that guy is unfixable, but i think a little dose of being able to choose for himself is gonna do him wonders."

btw i hope this doesn't sound rude or anything i'm worried my tone comes across as too deadpan at times especially when i'm yapping like crazy!!!

no joke that there are fans who utterly hate sage and think her bond with eggman is softening him thus want her dead for that yet these folks tend to make metal sonic as “uwu eggman’s loyal robot son that will do anything to please him” which i’m like you just made him as male sage basically (not only that, it’s shown in canon that metal sonic gets annoyed with eggman and he notably gets angry when he has to get eggman in middle of his fight with sonic in an idw comic)

YES!!! THIS!!!! sage is literally there for everyone's "dad eggman" agenda but do NOT touch metal sonic and say he experiences the same thing because he does NOT!!!! EVER!!!! did we play the same fucking game!!!!!! sorry if i sound angry LOL i'm not but it's just so annoying, i've been talking about this for YEARS and it's only this month that it gets brought up as a stupid trait they gave to eggman and metal sonic...
