okay so I am personally a fan of Al-Haitham's eye imagery being related to the Evil Eye and Nazar amulets. The color scheme is similar, he very much has a gaze that can kill, and honestly it is a very cool piece of symbolism that to me personally would make sense for his character
but then while trying to figure out my english essay last night I very suddenly remembered another piece of eye symbolism.
(of course I know that the eyes on his clothes are more a result to his similarities to a peacock but they feel too prominent to me to be simply brushed off as "peacock eyespots translated onto design")
So do you know about the Eye of Providence?
That one symbol conspiracy theorists love to use?
The eye in front (or at times above) a triangle/pyrammid?
Yeah that one. That Eye of Providence.
Do you think the eye imagery aspect will take form less in the Evil Eye and more of the Eye of Providence?
Ignoring all the conspiracy theory-related connotations, the Eye of Providence is described as an All-Seeing and All-Knowing Eye. The symbol is depicted as an eye on or above a triangle/pyramid, and that should ring a bell to anyone that's been in the desert.
That there is the Mausoleum of King Deshret, and it's symbol bears striking resemblance to the Eye of Providence, doesn't it?
Now I'm not directly saying that if Al-Haitham's eye references are more akin to the Eye of Providence than to the Evil Eye then that's more to support to King Deshret connection allegations, but I am very much kind of saying it.
and that brings me onto a small tangent wherein I am going to continue onwards with the King Deshret allegations and I'm going to connect all of this somehow by the end
So I made this post about the new artifact set (and a follow-up reblog about my agony of honey impact not having descriptions for each item separately) and you cannot tell me that it is highly suspicious that a similar-shaped gem to the one on Al-Haitham's chest is featured on the set that corresponds mostly to King Deshret, right?
I mean sure, the colors are different but literally everything about the gems makes sense, no?
I still do think that he could be some sort of "artificial life" from the Deshret era but asides from that, if the Eye of Providence is a connecting factor in the King Deshret-Al Haitham pipline then wouldn't that be interesting?
(Still I'm not exactly sure on why hoyo would choose the Eye of Providence over the Evil Eye but maybe if I cope hard enough he can take both symbols? idk man I'm spitballing at this point)
