on Thursday 18th May I went to the Soho Theatre and helped two other girls also doing the production placement module with Front of House duties for the BA Drama & Theatre Arts showcase taking place.

OFFICIAL GREETER - stood at the door and guided people over to the table if they were coming to see the showcase
my second session with The White Rabbit Drama Club took place at Twickenham Library.
2 sessions - 3:30pm--5:30pm. 1st session was with 6-8 year olds, 2nd session was 9-10 year olds. about 7 children in each session.
slightly easier as there was more time to focus on each child
Anna & Katie led warm ups and then I did my Sound Circle and introduced them to Zip, Zap, Boing! children really enjoyed this, made it fast-paced and fun & Anna even said I had done a good job & taught her something: I taught them zip, zap and then boing when they had practiced a few times -- she said she always used to teach them it all at once and she felt they responded better to my way than hers. that was a really good compliment and gave me confidence throughout the remainder of the 2 sessions

the very kind Juliet [costume department at the Rose Theatre in Kingston] let me go back to help again on another show. Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing.’
this show was a lot busier with a lot more actors than when I had helped out on Curtains.
2 other girls were also on work experience so it was a lot of hands on deck
main things I did: helped pre-set props [carried them down to set/held things/carried coat hangers-costumes] helped with costumes [ironed costumes/steamed suits & wedding dress]
realised that although I appreciated the experience costume isn’t where my passion lies...
on thursday 3rd may I helped out at The White Rabbit Theatre Company.
this is a company run by two friends and busy mum’s who run after-school drama clubs & workshops for primary school aged children.
I met up with the two ladies, Anna & Katie, before my first session with them to discuss what they did and how we could help each other.
met them @ school, signed in & got this photo as proof & for school records. helped set up - tape circle wide enough for 21 6-7 year olds plus me, Anna & Katie.

quite tough to have 21 young children and keep them focussed - needed lots of energy, big smiles and patience.
The Legend of Merlin and King Arthur was the theme to focus on the main goal: WHOOSH. Story was told, children got to be different characters & act out as the story went along... but when Anna or Katie shouted WHOOSH all children had to run back to the circle and new people could become the characters.
I think I managed the children well and assisted when necessary. a lot of the children wanted to work with me as I was a new face in their group, so while other children went on to make their own stories aided by flash cards, I had another activity lined up: one word story. we went round in a circle and each said one word to create our own version of the legend of King Arthur... this was a complete disaster. a group of around 8-9 children all wanted to tell their versions of the story, so in the end we agreed to change it to one sentence [each] story... this was slightly better but still the children all wanted to be the only narrator and arguments ensued. I handled it well [I think] and brought the focus back. Katie came over and said we should now get it on its feet and act it out.

Monday 9th April 2018 was the first session back after a 2 week Easter break. The Boy Who Can’t Say No is now scripted, as are the fairytales. Some things are also scripted, some are works in progress, and some are yet to be done.
