Nightmares

Genesis' eyes snapped out, trembling as she panted, scanning the pitch black room. She pulled her duvet up to her chin, laying as still as she could under it, as though it was a wall of protection against her and the rest of the world. Her eyes welled with tears as she remembered what had woken her up in the first place, and she let out a soft whimper, eyes clenching shut.

It had been about a week since her boss had assaulted her, and she wasn't making any progress towards moving past it. The only thing keeping her safe was Franklin, who was currently holed up in his office at work, grading papers. She needed him here, desperate to feel his warm body against hers, his gentle hands roaming over her back. Her hand darted out from under the duvet, grabbing her phone and snuggling back under the duvet. 

"Hey. I miss you," she typed, hesitating before pressing the send button. Genesis hated being so clingy, but she couldn't help it.
