💙 whose creativity i envy i'll just say admire, not envy* cuz envy doesn't feel right to me !! idk, we're all so different and bring unique things to table and that's a thing to celebrate !! i admire you for sure, anya, 1000%. your graphics alone, so unique and feels like a true, well-curated BRAND almost, your metas, headcanons, your vivid, warm writing style (which just ties in so perfectly to your aesthetics also like ... how on earth did you manage to make that so seamless ?? it feels so intentional and beautifully big-brain crafted in that way), and the fact that you are just a candy dolly sweetheart of a positive person. i liked you so easily so fast it's kind of insane of me skdm. i'm cooking up a response for adella and masha AT THE OPERA and i'm very very excited to see where it goes hehe. i like and admire you so so much and you made my dash so much brighter with your incredible, endless talent.

also bc i'm greedy i wanna put the spotlight on taylor @compunctions ( @cautionarys ) also !! i'm so addicted to their posts across accounts it's not normal skdm. the way we just fell into this rly fun, spirited dynamic between james and adella first is exaaactly the kind of thing you hope for out of a tumblr experience. someone who inspires you from the get go, runs with you on an idea, vibes with you super fast, and is so sweeeeeet and considerate on top of everything. their writing style is sooo fit for novel writing in particular, i feel, the way it's this perfect balance between action, character psychology, and dialogue... can't get enough !! i notice taylor's especially good at the 'yes AND?' discipline that is key to good tumblr rp. such a gem tbh tbh. excellent rper.

@wampirszy ( @selfexcision , @poezjask , @rattledrake) i was not being remotely casual when i mentioned everything vanto touches turns to gold. i stg he has this insane ability to get you so invested in his characters whether they're canon or not (like .. that's THE vanto regis. the one and only !!). he's just so thoughtful and so good at crafting dimensional, compelling characters and it fills me with soo much joy and delight at every opportunity i get to write with him and read his works hehe.

the cold, pre-dawn light crept in through the chink in the curtains, making a pale streak across the bedspread. his eyes were already adjusted to the shadows. he hadn't slept, but stared instead at the ceiling for hours, letting the darkness slowly recede around him. his mind had been racing - full of self-reproach and guilty recriminations - and sleep had been impossible. he should have known better. and yet... here he was once more, playing with fire, leaving his honor hanging by a single, fraying thread.

for hours he'd listened to her steady breathing beside him. it should have been a comforting sound - and once or twice, he nearly dozed off with her... but then he'd remember what they had done. a flash of sense memory - the taste of her kisses, the warmth of her skin beneath his, how she felt surrounding him... and then any thought of sleep would vanish. he would do his best to push the memories away - even as his body ached to relive them all.

he shouldn't have let it go this far. he knew that. with painful clarity. but perhaps it was inevitable, after what they had been to each other in france. guardians of each other's sanity. and now back in england, swept up in a world that hardly felt real, where nothing seemed as important as the dying groans he could still hear echoing from quimper. now, for reasons he would rather not examine, those voices only went quiet when he was with her... a stronger man might have resisted when she appeared on his doorstep, damp from the rain and wearing an expression he knew too well. but he was not such a man.

instinctively, his body curved towards her when her voice broke his pensive silence. in the dim light, he could just make out the curve of her cheek, the dark tresses spilling over his pillow. unable to resist, he reached up to brush a few strands from her face. his fingers lingered there. " no, " he said, a soft smile - one tinged with regret - spreading across his lips. " no, i don't. " it was the honest truth. and a most inconvenient one. he swallowed hard, grateful for the darkness that obscured his features. " but - perhaps you should... someone may see you, " he added quietly. despite his words, his fingers stroked her cheek, not yet ready to give her up.

in all his endless years, it would seem there had already been firsts for everything . . . yet there comes a night when the wizard king in all his otherworldly grace and peculiarity shows up unannounced to a parisian theatre and — for the first time — finds himself shoved into a dressing room. commanded to remain silent here like a dog or an errant lover. despite his proclivity for the contrary, koschei kept motionless and quiet for a time. acutely tuned to marguerite's voice just outside the door, how it strained thin with politeness, obviously trying to end a conversation without inviting suspicion.

had it been a demanding patron or admiring fan who had crept backstage and nearly caught her with the strange character? koschei had little opportunity to discern — he only knew they were dragging on intolerably out there. forcing him to become all too aware of just how absurdly small the room was in here. with its ceiling nearly grazing the crown of his head, the potpourri of dresses flanked around him brushing his shoulders no matter how he shifted, it felt to him as though he'd just been swallowed alive by some frill-bellied beast. he hated it— the impression of confinement, that is. such a severely feminine enclosure might have been better welcomed if not for that.

surely enough, when left to suffocate between costumes for long, koschei had little choice but to pace through the short depth of the room, trying to take note of anything but the walls. amid the vanity was nothing more pleasant to look at. there were wigs hanging on severed heads; jars of rouge glinting thickly in the plum-red of bullet holes; neck ribbons hanging limply from half-open drawers; and worst of all small notes and post cards tucked around the painted frame of the mirror, all seemly written by the same fawning hand. he'd ignored the urge to read through the latter out of respect— or more likely spite, as any respectful consideration was evidently lost to him the moment he noticed a modern ensemble draped over marguerite's chair. nothing so dusty and musk-scented as the rest of the venue's lot, but well-loved and sweetly familiar. ( recalling the very dress she'd worn when she'd first fallen into his world . . . and then abruptly left it. )

with a dragon's incurable fascination for beautiful things, he is possessed to reach for it. admire the delicate neckline. feel the vibrant silk between his fingers. that's where he finds a set of laced garters and misty-delicate stockings prudently layered beneath her dress, though he knows she must have taken them off last. the thought kindles slowly in his imagination, sparks in his stomach to a point where he could scarcely imagine anything else happening in this room. until marguerite finally steps back into it, flushed from the performance she'd been forced to put on the spot, if not the sight of koschei rummaging about where he shouldn't be. before the embarrassment could settle, his grip dismisses the dress— as if it were a paltry thing of insignificance, hardly a cause for either one of them to get heated about.
