Fluff #15 Claudleth 👀
[Fluff #15 "I missed you so much"]
There was a certain emotion upon reuniting, that Byleth both cherished and longed to be gone forever.
The long distance she and Khalid were dealt with by the stars was just a short term hurdle in the grand scheme of it all, but by the starlight it seemed aggravatingly long. The months apart were spent looking forward to when they would next meet, exchanging as many personal notes as they could amongst the important letters filled with politics and plans, but nothing could replace the comforting presence of Khalid by her side.
But the lonely nights only made the ones together sweeter, even if the truth that it was only temporary lingered in the air between them and dared to try and make it bittersweet.
That was what pushed Byleth to keep going, even though the past week of traveling through the Almyran desert had been difficult, with sabotage attempts from both sides to prevent her from arriving and beginning the diplomatic start of uniting the countries. Because the perils were made nothing but memories of the past as Byleth dismounted from her fathers old reliable horse and into Khalid’s arms.
His embrace around her waist was tight, and brought happiness to the forefront of her mind were worry and endless planning had been as she returned it with as much desperate relief as him.
“I’ve missed you.” Was breathed against her crown, and her grip on his clothes tightened.
“I would hope so, I would feel very foolish to be the only one in this being bothered by being apart.” Byleth returned, attempting to lighten his mind from the turmoil that must be happening because of the attempts on her life, and on the progression of their dream.
His laugh was a welcomed treat as he pulled away, even though a little tired it might be, distancing just enough to gaze at her face.
“Well, I hope it reassures you to know you aren’t alone, and I am right there with you with thinking being apart sucks.”
The hidden meaning that could be taken from that was not missed, and Byleth’s eyes softened.
“With you, I know I’m never alone.” She told him truthfully, bringing his hands together so she could hold both tightly, looking up at him with the fullest smile she had managed in months. “And I look forward to doing this, and feeling that trust every single day.”
His smile matched hers in wear and emotion, as he leaned forward till their foreheads touched.
“That, and so much more.”
