Like, Gyda Eriksdotter was a princess who told Harald Finehair that she would not marry him until he was THE King. So he went and became King. And then Gyda was like “AIGHT” and married him. Why’d she have to go and marry someone behind his back in this incarnation of Harald’s story?

And if the writers just HAD to make her betray Harald, why be so pathetic about it? “oh jeez, yeah I sorta married someone, Harald, so sorry, pls don’t kill me pls”… Can Lagertha be the only badass blonde on the show or something? Princess shoulda been all “Well you took too long, Harald. How long has it been, 10 years? Oh, and you’re STILL not King yet. Don’t look at me like that, Halfdan. I got NEEDS. Become King of Norway and I’ll divorce this nerd pronto. Until then, get that knife out of my side because if you cut my cute dress I swear to Odin I’ll end you”

But nooooooooooooooo, she must be weak and lame because Michael Hirst hates having too many strong women in one story, and REALLY hates Harald Finehair and needs to remind us constantly.

This week on Vikings: Rollo gets laid, Ragnar gets stoned.

I mean 60% of the episode was stylistically so different from usual Vikings that it genuinely confused me. there were scenes that just looked like they belonged to another show, like... every scene in Paris or Wessex? wtf was that sex montage with Rollo and Gisla? and Ragnar’s acid trip? (it was funny to see him hanging from the ceiling like a bat, but what the fuck?) Still substantially no Lagertha, and I’m not a fan of this fragmenting the narration in so many storylines when nothing relevant happens in any of them. Dislike.
