omg okay so i’m reading about voltron season 8 and.... did they really kill allura? are you fucking serious?? that’s it i’m gonna put away my pins and never buy any volteon crap again,,, i’m not reblogging anything about it except complaints and artist’s fan art bc they killed a colored gay man, a black alien woman who deserved everything, and technically a disabled asian man,,, and they made a villain out of a man who in my opinion presents as gay or at least gender nonconforming, Lotor,, sick of this shit
Why I’m upset about Season 7
You might expect me to say because klance isn’t canon or homophobia but after looking through tumblr posts about the season, I don’t even car about the original reasons why I was upset.
I’m upset that the fandom is so mad at each other.
I’m seeing so many posts that are “I can’t believe people liked this season” and “How dare you leave the show just because your ship isn’t canon”
Please. Stop.
Sure there were parts of this season that I didn’t like and there were parts I enjoyed. And yes, this wasn’t my favorite season. But I think we all need to take a step back.
Stop accusing each other. Stop telling other people what to think about this season. Stop taking sides.
It’s totally fine to post your opinions about the season but don’t target other people while doing so.

Also if you’re disappointed in the show writers that’s one thing but don’t harass them online or at panels please.

Can I take a sec of your time to tell yall how angry I am about the Brand New Voltron Drama. I’m so disappointed about every single person that shamed this cosplayer, called them gross, a disgusting person, etc. The first one to repost and the rest who kept sharing the video while going “eewww lmaooo who does thiiisss” are disgustingly morbid. I expected, vainly, a tiny little bit more of maturity when this whole issue bloomed. Everybody must be careful about what they post in the internet for sure. But now, purpously sharing such private stuff for the sole purpose of harming and shaming someone (or in this case a group of people) doesnt make you any better than those high school bullies who leak nude pics for the shits and giggles

So, for starters, both Keith and Hunk are 18+, which means it’s not illegal to write them with Shiro. Future fics with Lance as 18+ also aren’t illegal.
Allura is confirmed to be the Altean equivalent of a teenager, does that make her and Shiro a problematic couple?
So, no, that’s not what I mean. Because I have no problems whatsoever with people shipping Shiro with Hunk/Keith/Allura/Lance once he’s 18.
My problem is that people insisting the fandom is full of pedophiles.
My problem is people writing Pidge as non-binary (which isn’t problematic, but is bothersome to me, as a non-binary person, who thinks it’s just a lazy way to ignore how much Pidge insists that she’s a girl when you don’t know how adrogyny works in cis/trans people.)
My problem is that I wanted to write about transphobia and a non-binary Shiro and I was sent so much hate and hate mail that I actively was shared to open my inbox.
My problem is that the fandom is so obessed with purity culture that the moment I dared try and tackle an issue, I was called a terrible human being, a problematic monster, and a transphobe.
My problem is that people make innocent mistakes and no one wants to forgive them for it.
My problem is that VLD is the fandom where I see it happen the most and where trigger-happy call out posters want to label everyone and their mother as problematic, pedophiles, and monsters.

Good to know those leaks are 100% real and not the hard work of some fan trying hard to replicate the vld style. Cause now I can gladly say that I find all of the future paladin designs ugly af without worrying about hurting someone’s feelings.
Because honestly? The crew that honestly thought that using the bury you gays trope was okay, thought that killing off a strong woc who meant a lot to her fans was a great way to end a series, and thinks that throwing Shiro alongside with a random guy at the end with no buildup is good lgbt rep???? Yeah I don’t mind hurting their feelings at all.
They all look really bad. Like really really bad.
