When Shane gets traded to Ottawa, Harris posts a pic of itty bitty toddler Shane in an Ottawa Centaurs jersey that he is absolutely drowning in (it‘s David‘s) cheesing like there is no tomorrow, next to a pic of current Shane in his new Centaurs jersey with the caption: welcome home, Shane.
@heatonice I have no self restraint and too much free time. I apologise... (there's also a baby Ilya and an adult Ilya now)
There’s something so heart wrenching about Eddie who digs his heels into every decision he makes, even if it turns out to actively be hurting him or someone else—except Chris. With Chris, he runs. He found out Shannon was pregnant: signed up for the army. He found out Chris wasn’t developing as expected: re-enlisted. His parents tried talking Eddie into letting them raise Chris: he took Chris to LA. He thought being a firefighter was too much of a risk for Chris: left the 118. He fucked up with Kim: he let Chris run. And of course, Kim is the embodiment of Eddie’s desires, and the situation collapses all of Eddie’s instincts onto themselves, so that when he thinks Chris is thriving in Texas, he runs under the guise of good parenting, but it’s a running from the roots and attachments and life he built for himself, filled with the things he wants. A family who loves him and sees the good of what he does as much as the mistakes. A partner he can depend on, who he can lean on, who he wants around, full stop, not an ideal of a person he’s supposed to want. A job that he loves, and excels at, and is more than just something to pay the bills even if it comes with real risks. He runs but simultaneously digs his heels into the decision, repeats what he did with Shannon in making choices that don’t just affect him but that he can argue are necessary, as if it’s the only option available to him, because to consider an alternative would force him to consider his own needs instead of only the needs of those he’s responsible for/to. And so far, since he’s been back, he hasn’t been forced to reckon with these instincts, both in how they played out in the past, but also whether he’ll continue these dual seemingly-at-odds but now-mutually-dependent reactions.

No one doing this should be allowed to call themselves a feminist.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".
I hope your nostalgia is worth it

In case anyone hasn't heard, the cyclospora outbreak affecting tons of people in the US right now is coming from Taylor Farms produce. Best to stay away from bagged lettuce and prepared salads completely right now, but especially the ones mentioned in the screenshot:
Taylor Farms Earthbound Farms Little Salad Bar (Aldi) Marketside (Walmart) Kroger House Brand Target private label greens Costco salads and greens etc Trader Joe's chopped salad kits and fresh produce Fast food: McDonalds, Taco Bell, (Yum! Brands), Chipotle, Subway, Pizza Hut, KFC, Olive Garden, Top Golf, Red Lobster, Burger King, etc.
This is not the first time I've heard about a Taylor Farms foodborne illness outbreak. I stopped eating their salads after reading a description of the conditions in their facilities. Doesn't sound like they've improved anything.
We need a fully funded and staffed FDA, and regulations with teeth - and that's exactly what we don't have under Trump. To make things worse, the CDC is no longer tracking these outbreaks. We're on our own.
Imagine for a second that you're an interstellar microorganism. I'm not doing that.

chapter title: the rest of the day was quite easy
chapter summary:
The water darkens around them. Buck’s voice breaks. “You were talking, and then there was blood all over me.” Eddie takes Buck’s face between both hands. The contact sends a shock up his arms. Buck is warm beneath his palms despite the water, his birthmark soft under Eddie’s thumb. “You got me out.” “I lost you.” “I’m right here.” “No.” Buck’s hands close around Eddie’s wrists. “You’re visiting.” The road beneath them splits. Black cracks race through the asphalt, branching under the Jeep until its headlights flicker out. “Then tell me how to stay.” Buck stares at him. Hope brightens his face for one aching second. Fear crushes it. “You can’t.” The darkness opens beneath the road. Jellyfish tumble into it, their dim lights swallowed one after another. Buck shoves Eddie backward. “Wake up.” “No.” “Wake up, Eddie!” “I’m not leaving you.” “You have to!”

I love you Sebago, I would die for you Sebago
Ok first I need everyone to know that the owner posted another picture of Sebago and like. She could easily be a moose for Halloween.
Also, the official Guinness World Record for tallest mule was a dude named Apollo, who was the same height but weighed in at 100lbs heavier.
the KIDS act passed the house today. 267-117, 47 not voting.
that's not great. but it's not the whole story.
a few things got worse right before the vote too. the language that explicitly protected encryption, saying the bill couldn't be used to force platforms to weaken it, got quietly stripped out on Friday. that safeguard just doesn't exist anymore.
but this isn't over. it heads to the senate next, and the senate is genuinely not on board. blumenthal and cantwell, two of the senators who wrote the original KOSA, are saying they don't want this version near a markup. blackburn, a republican and the other original author, called the missing duty of care provision a red line.
worth being clear here, blackburn isn't on our side. she wants the policy stronger, not gone. but that's still a crack we can use. her opposition means the house version has zero guaranteed path through the senate as written, and a stalled bill is a bill that isn't law yet. use her objection, don't trust her motive.
senate commerce hasn't even scheduled a markup yet. that's the next pressure point. this thing has died or gotten majorly rewritten at this stage before.
contact your senators: find yours here. tell them you don't want the house version anywhere near a vote.
and remember, if you have to, contact your senators scared. anything helps.
this fight isn't lost. it's just moved.
