tae il is no stranger to impulse : broken bones borne of half - wit dares, severed fingers from the desire to disprove themselves chicken. it was his own impulsiveness that gave him a labcoat &. clipboard, gave the strength to argue his case with higher - ups that no, he knows enough - give me a patient and i’ll prove it.
he is also no stranger to the impulsive patient’s impulsive families : pushing in vain against the security guards installed, screaming their throats hoarse at the surgeon in charge for their son to come back sound or so help them, grabbing with clammy hands at receptionists stricken by their sudden outbursts. but, for as familiar as he is with the concept, he doesn’t enjoy it. his confidence lies in medical textbooks and operating theatres - not in placating aggrieved families.
it looked as if there were no patients to avoid within pristine white walls, and so without a heavy heart to weigh his steps down he could approach.
“ are you waiting for someone ? an appointment ? ”
