Billie Eilish for British Vogue!!!

OK let's talk about Billie Eilish being the representation of our newest "wave" of feminism. In her newest Vogue interview, she discusses the double standard that women face when it comes t empowerment and explains how, as a young celebrity, she faces the same body politics other women feel, accept the world gets to see how she has developed.

The quote from Eilish that says it all and more is, “Suddenly you’re a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you’re easy and you’re a slut and you’re a whore. If I am, then I’m proud. Me and all the girls are hoes, and f**k it, y’know? Let’s turn it around and be empowered in that. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you.”

This quote highlights the idea that even today, women are expected to fit a certain mold that was developed what... the 80's?!?! Thanks but no thanks Reagan!

It explains the negative view that is connected to women who believe in Sex Positivity and embrace their sexuality. The thing that Eilish believes is at stake is respect which has to be constantly negotiated with what society values. The bigger issue or problem is that the society we live in holds cisgender straight white men as the highest standard of power.

I believe Billie Eilish is a great representation for feminism in the new generation because they we are aware of the issue and we are trying to do something about is. We know this is a mans world but can see equality in our future and will do our part to make it happen. Eilish is using her platform to do so, how can we do our part?
