DF50 void forts.
looking back at that I’m currently experiencing in DF50 and uhh I well the weird dfhack campboat stuff I done in the past has now evolved into mobile fort sites that latch on to other embark sites and use the other embark sites for multiple uses like resource gathering, dumping grounds, extra space for construction, uhh pulling off boarding raids on locations.
more of my thoughts of this experience under the read more.

just a couple more models to go and we are done building.

Void Pirates: Log Entry 7
After an impossible to determine length of time since passing the cargo ship, you enter the sparrow star system. You’re not sure how you know that you have reached it, something just changes in your head and your perception of the environment seems more… fluid. At first the void is as unpopulated as it ever was, but soon you begin seeing other ships in the distance, all travelling in a more or less similar direction. From this distance they were too far away for you to be able to see details, but as the ships all began to converge you can pick out some specifics of each vessel. One that is overtaking you off to the far right appears to be covered in some kind of fungal ecosystem. Huge bulbous growths flourished across its bow while spindly, bony looking fibers sprouted from it’s masts. The crew seemed oddly unperterbed by the fungal oddities, and merely watched as they moved past you slowly. Quite close in front was another ship, a large three masted vessel of a magnificent size. You question the choice in décor, viscera probably wouldn’t have been your first choice, but a ship is a highly personal thing and it should be decorated as such. You smile at the skinless crew members as they stare back at you, not a muscle moving. You would know after all, as they were all visible.
Void Pirates: Log entry 6
You have no memory of what had happened prior to you ending up on this ship with the goal of reaching the Sparrow system. You had never asked the Captain why, possibly because you assumed he wouldn’t answer truthfully but maybe because you pre-emptively know that you wouldn’t understand anyway.
You feel life close by, or at least something imitating it, and turn to face the bow. Out in the distance you can make out another ship. It looks like a transport vessel of some kind, elongated to accommodate for the irregularly shaped crates and nets of secrets. It appears to be travelling slower than your vessel, and so you begin to catch up to and overtake it. As you move past its worn-looking wooden flanks you can make out the crew standing on deck. They don’t appear to be moving, and they all look straight forward. Their faces are blank and expressionless but their eyes…you can’t tear your gaze from their eyes. They look terrified, stretched wide and filled with dread as such you’ve never seen. As your gaze pans from one to the next, any sailors in your periphery warp and shift. They appear hunched over, feral, distraught. As you centre your eyes on them they return to their original stoic form, unaltered. You glance over at the captain and notice he has dropped his hands from the wheel. He stands with his back straight and facing the same supposed horror that the sailors are, his eyes appear slightly milky. He looks scared. Terrified in fact. You move your eyes so that he is in the very edge of your vision, his face is gaunt and he is hunched over, his fists clenched and shaking. You overtake the ship, and as soon as the gaze of the motionless sailors is blocked by the stern the Captains eyes clear and their steely grey returns.
He looks at you and you think he smiles, from the implied twitch of his beard, but as he turns away you see a slight remnant of the fear remains.
