is newt afraid of any creature? why or why not?

He’s not afraid of any creatures, no.  Newt has a very Us versus Them mentality. “Us” for him is creatures (+himself) and “Them” are humans. For most of his adult life he’s been amongst creatures and his childhood had betrayal (through Leta) and when he was expelled from school he was in a war (where he commanded dragons and the program got “shutdown” read: dragons were probably killed because they didn’t trust other humans).

Newt has never seen a creature as dangerous-- Only people. People are the ones who harm for fun or for power. Creatures merely live amongst themselves and don’t (usually) harm without cause. There are some creatures that are notably malicious, and he won’t deny that, but he also thinks that they’re not worse than humans who do it for pleasure.

﹝👿﹞⸻ MICHAEL WASN’T QUITE SURE what to make of the stranger roaming the halls. were they alive? dead? usually he was able to grasp a reading of someone, to determine whether they were of the living or the spirit world, but this one was harder to grasp. he tries getting closer to get a better feel of their energy, moving as discreetly as possible. a floorboard creaks and announces his presence, and he stops walking immediately. his cheeks flare in a crimson blush, and he averts his gaze to the floor.
