//Happy Easter everyone! I hope everyone is having a good time eating chocolate, hugging rabbits, spending time with loved ones and all the stuff that occurs on the day.
//Now I finished Review Anon's sprites so as promised I am gonna start tackling the Voidship Lore, it would have been out sooner, but I had family commitments to attend to so those took priority.
//Before I start talking about the LOOOREEE a couple of things; firstly not EVERYTHING will be revealed as there's still a lot of stuff I want to keep hidden until the plot comes calling. The nature of the Voidship, the Penguins, Review Anon herself, Void Juice etc all of those are not gonna be talked about since there's a lot of plot to go through first before I feel comfortable releasing the lore tab, so consider this a general overview on what goes on the Voidship and hopefully answer some general questions.
//Secondly, this lore tab won't mean the next arc will start as I still have the penguins plus the two new characters I'm doing sprites for but when those are finished more tabs will be added for rules regarding certain things that have popped up.
//Either way I hope you enjoy and as always this lore post is under the cut and I will have a lore tab shortly afterwards where you can check this and any future lore posts I post but for now its time...for LOOORREEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *Cue Mattpat Voice*
The Voidship is a mysterious vessal build some unknown time ago by forces not yet understood. The purpose of the Voidship is still unknown but what is know is this is a ship capable of travelling through the interdimensional void that exists between the universes of Danganronpa.
Sizewise, The Voidship is nothing to sneeze at as its the size of a large city, comparable to the likes of Kyoto and Tokyo in terms of size.
Due to the sheer size of the Voidship navigation is done via transit pods which travel at Mach 5 speeds from one sector to another, and thus allowing even the slowest people to get from one side of the Voidship to another in little time.
The sectors of the Voidship are divided into agricultral, where all the food is produced, food and commerce where food is consumed and the loosest attempts at currency is exchanged, relaxation where all the various enteraiment is held, engineering where the ship's engines and various machines running the Voidship are held, Adminsteration where the cockpit of the Voidship plus Review Anon's office is located, education which there is some attempts to learn stuff but it normally fails, execirse where various sports equipment and general execirse can be done and finally personal quarters where the dorms are located.
By means unknown, whenever a Danganronpa character falls asleep in their home universe, their dreaming self can astral travel to the Voidship, where they end up in the waking dorms. When visitors first arrive they are given a quick rundown of the Voidship, what happens in their own universe, and the rules of the Voidship. A final test is if they can get past the final room without provoking the penguins, this is prevent overly destructive people from getting onto the Voidship.
Due to this, all visitors are aware of their fictional status, with various reactions ranging from pleased to horrifed, depending on the character and creator in question. As such its common for characters to say instead of "Oh my God" to say the name of their creator instead, unless there is a in-universe god like Utsuro.
The amount of time a visitor can stay on the Voidship is unknown but you would know when your time is coming to an end and its recommend to go back to the waking dorms. Failure to do so would mean you literally vanish in front of people which can be a rather traumatic experience.
Voidship visits are not a once in a lifetime thing as the same characters can come back but its unknown when you come back, the general rule is the longer you stayed on the Voidship, the more time it takes to come back.
If you die in your home universe you never return to the Voidship as dead people never get summoned to the Voidship.
Should someone die on the Voidship, they for the most part wake up in their home universe completely fine, but there is a dead body in the Voidship that needs to be taken care of and that person cannot return unless their body is completely destroyed.
Memories of the Voidship stay on the Voidship as those who wake up from a Voidship dream never recall their dreams. This is a security measure since if memories were retained, it would motivate a lot of characters to avert their fates which would have catastrophic results, especially if you happen to be an Another character...
Should a universe be destroyed due to the fangan being cancelled or the blog being deleted, all the residents who are allowed on the Voidship spawn onto the Voidship and they never leave, they are residents.
Voidship residents have the enjoyment of a unlimited time on the Voidship but it comes with some costs; the knowledge they can never properly befriend visitors since most of the time they go and never come back, that aging might be a problem and finally if they die on the Voidship, they are permenantly dead.
Due to being in the interdimensional Void, the laws of physics and what can and cannot happen are very flexible which allows all manners of madness to occur on the Voidship, which anyone who goes on there has to deal with.
How characters cope with it depends on how absurd their universe is. Survivor characters for example have no problems being on the Voidship since the randomness on there is another Tuesday to them but Despair to Future Arc characters, coming from a more grounded universe, react very poorly to random monster attacks for example.
Currently the Voidship is anchored onto A Student out of Time Universe and shows little signs of moving from that.
Travelling into the Void itself is considered a death sentence since not only is there no oxygen but the lack of physics can for the most part tear anyone and anything to shreds.
The reason "for the most part" is said is while the deeper sections of the Void are certainly like that, when one gets near a universe, the Void becomes a lot thinner and this has allowed life to thrive, Voidborne creatures are not common but they do exist and they are extremely etherial in appearance.
The Voidship itself is built out of unknown alloys, that nobody aside from the Ship's various AI and the Penguin drones know how to operate. Characters like Miu and Yamato have tried making similar alloys but all attempts have resulted in failure.
Paradox rules don't apply so variants of the same character can and will talk to each other.
It can be hard at first to identify the various variants of a character but those who have been on the Voidship long enough can notice various differences from variant to variant.
Ship AI and communications runs on a programming language unknown to anyone, some of the less vital systems did run on a human programming language but after Mikado hacked into the penguin visors the Ship AI has responded and now all ship componants are run on the weird programming language.
Since the ship never needed currency, all exchanges are done via bartering. The lack of a currency annoys certain characters like Syobai greatly and they have attempted to introduce one, but all are met with failure.
The Voidship has existed for a very long time, long before Review Anon found it and repurposed it for her own needs, in fact some might argue its been around for eons...
//And that's all the general lore of the Voidship! Granted I will have more stuff in store but that's tied into spoilers for future plot points but for now I presume this answers a lot of the common questions I have been getting.
//Eventually a tab will come out but until then I'll probably pin this until I finish the Penguin sprites. Either way I hope you enjoy and Happy Easter!
