Vol29, Extras

I finally got my hands on volume 29 today, after having ordered it at a local bookshop some weeks ago. Turns out the new notification system they use didn’t notify me of its arrival... about two weeks ago!

Anyway, there are two extra pages to advertise for volume 30.

It’s interesting that even the street urchins she called her friends are listed among the people who simply used her.

Then we have Yana-san’s volume note.

Funny that she says “I feel human eyes are not to be trusted”... in a volume that’s largely about Mey-Rin’s eyes.

Then we have the inner covers with the English translations. Recall that Ran-Mao is on the front cover and holding her weapons of choice. It’s funny this is like the tapioca version of the cola wars.

I didn’t take pictures of the color pages between chapters, but I might do that later.

Vol29, Sebastian and drinks/food

Ch1 has our earl tricking Sebastian into drinking lemonade made with MSG. He later complains of heartburn before finding out what was in it. Tanaka must have gotten it confused with the sugar.

Ch14 shows Sebastian eating frosting off the birthday cake he never presented to the earl. He doesn’t seem pleased with the taste — he comments that he doesn’t even understand why humans find such things appetizing — but he eats it anyway.

The circus arc has him drinking hard liquor 🥃... and lots of it. I lost track of how many shots he does.

The side chapter after the Campania arc has our earl forcing Sebastian to eat something — was it porridge? — while he’s supposed to be convalescing. Apparently, Bard and Finny added too much sugar to it.

The beginning of the blue sect arc has him drinking ale in a pub, apparently because he’s sad about a cat that ran off.

But vol29’s back inner cover parody has him drinking boba tea (or something similar). I’m not sure why he’s actually drinking it.

But even more odd: Why is he pondering the calories? 🤨 🤣

...for volume 29, is it? Yes.

Even before translations, I’m quite pleased.

(Is that supposed to be a humongous black tapioca pearl on that plate? Hahahaha 🤣)
