Horizon's Edge World building stuff :)

I wanted to go ahead and share some of the examples of stuff i'm working on atm with my world, and i've been meaning to share these for a bit but... this is essentially going over the worldly basics of the universe.

But essentially, What you're looking at is some rough samples of how the two parallel worlds and the life stream's effect on them works. The life stream is essentially the dimension between worlds that produces the means for life to bloom and flourish, but in ekriin worlds they are so close to the life stream they often times have an almost direct link to it.

in these like situations they might find themselves with a mirror image of the world in a parallel dimension. these are typically able to be anything but in the case of Horizon Edge's world the mirror world has been devoured by volites and the absolute mass amount of them has started to cause the life stream to pull back and push more outward into the material world.

These result in what is called "Superblooms" they're blasts of pure life energy which you might think is explainable stuff but i just want you to imagine if life was left no limit to surge. and that is what a superbloom does, its absolutely rips apart and rebuilds everything around it countless times in the matter of seconds and it results in a lot of very strange things.

these things are 100% eldritch, and we aren't going to try and explain everything. the effects of the superblooms are unexplainable, and are capable of producing different results over and over. if you have seen the movie annihilation i want you to imagine that type of shit k

hey i gotta ask.... can u tell me abt the 'stages' of volites? since ark is a level 20. like howd he get there. i wanna know abt the threatening bby

Volites increase stage by eating, Honestly. They are trash cans that eat everything. They eat people, animals, people food, trash, fuckin rocks, they can suck the actual life energy out of everything and reduce a planet or a person/creature to a Shallow husk. The more they consume the more energy they get, Their bodies just convert everything they eat into their Volitic energy. As that builds up they get stronger.

The stages go from 1-30Kath is a stage 17 Ark is a stage 20

It’s just a measurement of Power really, in the Void they never called it this. Mortals just gave them the stages to keep track of them. Though it doesn’t help much, cause I mean even a stage 10 can destroy a planet. A stage 20 like Ark is literally capable of obliterating a solar system. But really in all the stages, people are just like “oh shit it’s a Volite, Kill that thing. JUST KILL IT”

Ark got there by cheating honestly, He found a temple of a old species that worshipped Volites. They had an machine there just waiting for the day a Volite came round, it was FILLED with Pure unadulterated life energy. He was a stage 10 when he got there and came out a stage 20. Then he just started having fun and went on a mass murder spree to test out his power. Lots of whole planets blew up that day. He ate a lot of people.

He didn’t work for his power like Kath did, and he’s so much stronger than Kath.

Ark is a bad dude, Approach him with caution.

I’ve seen bits and pieces of volite lore, including bits about ‘harbingers’ - are there different subspecies of volites? How many? How did they come about? (Sorry if this is a lot aaa, I love your work btw!!)

First off: VOLITES ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT UP FOR OPEN CREATION. NOR CAN YOU BUY ONE. DONT ASK. DO NOT MAKE ONE.

Volites are Void born creatures, they have no subspecies. They are seperated into classification however!

Harbingers, Reapers, Titans, and Cruiser!

Harbingers and Reapers are the most common. While Titans theirs only ever 1 at any given time.

Harbingers are huge and have constriction based tails and prefer eating theie prey whole

Reapers are more agile and tails possess a weapon like a blade or multiple. they prefer ripping the flesh and bone from their prey.

Titans, are the direct extensions of the Void. Their is only ONE and thats Ash. There's no others.

There is also only ONE Cruiser, Thats The Void itself. Which is a Vast expanse that spans across the whole of reality. Its very much alive and is the mother of all Volites.

The void is where they come from, when people find themselves there a volite will host in them. The hosting process is long and not very nice, and in the end the volite consumes the host and all that remains is the Volites new form.
