Meet Khanshi!

She’s married to Lance’s sister, Imogen (also an oc). She’s a good, loyal wife, who cares immensely. Burn scars are from a grease fire she tried to put out, using water. She didn’t know it would produce the fire ball it did. She was very lucky to survive, and it cost her an eye, but she’s still going.

Name/Nickname: Khanshi Lon-weng. (Shi-shi, or Khan)

Flaws: People Pleaser.

Age: At time of canon, 28.

Talents: Cooking, traditional dance, accounting (she’s really good at it)

Height/Weight: 5ft 35 inches. (It’s almost impossible to find out how someone would weigh, with that being the healthy body type, without getting a face full of weight loss garbage and body shaming shoved down my throat, so we’re going with ‘she weighs what she weighs, and that doesn’t change her as a person’)

Hair color: Deep purple, lighter when hit by light.

What annoys them? Body shaming. Transphobes. Misogynists. Active military for more than defence. Tabloids. Lack of fire safety training. People who name their kids for puns.

What excites them? Imogen. Puppies. Tax season. Rainy season. Fresh cupcakes. Kittens with puns for names.

Eye color: Black/brown.

Markings/Scars: Tattoo to symbolise her marriage to Imogen, on her right cheek. Burn scars across her left side. Missing two fingers of her left hand. Amputated wing.

Do they have children? Wants them, has tried for them, currently has it on hold.

Past relationships: Three. Two boys, on girl. None of them lasted, was cheated on once.

Gender: Female. Trans, and proud of it.

Their most precious possession: Her wedding necklace.

Parents: Patrice Long-weng, Appa Long-weng (deceased).

siblings: Eight brothers. There may be more, she stopped counting after the fourth. Too many cousins in the house, so direct genetics stopped mattering. She is the only girl. Her mother has never stopped being thrilled about getting to have ‘at least one, because the boys hate my old dresses, and it’s nice to see them get some use’.

Their darkest secret: Doesn’t actually think her father accepted her for who she was. (He did, he was just terrible at showing it, and it left some issues that her mother’s reassurances can’t solve)

Sexual orientation: Pansexual, Demiromantic.

Their biggest fear: Getting lost, and being too short for the rescue team to spot her.

Nationality: Born and bred on a small colony planet. Moved to the capital of Maatai systems when she was in collage.

Are they sociable?: Shy, but if you get her talking, she’ll talk and talk. Get her pissed with you, she will make you wish you were never born.

Intelligence level: Has an eye for numbers, but isn’t an all around smart person. Maths she can do. Everything else? She knows others are smarter, and it doesn’t bother her.

Health conditions: dermatillomania. Chronic pain (everyone gets very concerned for her when it gets bad, but they respect her space, and know she will ask for help if she needs it)

Where do they live?: Capital city. In the temple/palace. The palace is very grand, but not because it’s a symbol of wealth or anything, it was just a group project, and someone once said ‘what if we build a massive fancy building?’ So they did.

Closest friends: Imogen. Trix. Her family. Patrice.

Any secret powers/abilities?: Can always find anything. Nobody knows how. She just can.

Employment status: Imogen’s advisor. Ambassador to the people. Helps out as a school teaching assistant.

Ambitions/aspirations: To be a mom.

How do they view themselves?: Mostly positive, but sometimes things spiral a little, and she avoids mirrors for a while.

How do others view them?: sweet, kind, caring, talented, maternal. Imogen: The most beautiful woman in the world. Before the accident, she was considered one of the most beautiful women in the capital; the accident did not change this for anyone but assholes.

Interests/hobbies: Cooking. Singing. Reading. Xiangqi.

Drugs/alcohol?: Sober, in all facets of life.

Physical strength: Can lift a truck.

Clothing style: Light and freeing. Not ashamed to show skin.

Level of confidence: relatively, around safe people. Unknowns she is shy.

Past trauma?: Her ex was verbally abusive, and she stayed too long. It still affects her relationship with Imogen. Imogen always makes sure to keep it clear that she will never say anything to intentionally hurt her, and if ever she does, she hopes Khanshi will hit her over the head with a broom, for she’d deserve it.

Family relationships: Close with all her brothers/cousins who might be brothers, or might not be, it doesn’t matter they’d all die for each other.

Personal hygiene: Very cleanly. Has to keep her skin clean, so bathes regularly, with moisturiser afterwards.

Favorite foods: fresh fruit from the orchard.

Daily routines: Lunch is always at one in the afternoon, without fail.

Favorite places to be: In bed with Imogen, hassling her about how they could just stay in bed today (it never works)

I really like her. I need to draw her with her wife soon.

I needed to reset my brain with a chibi. So, I drew Noro, one of the more recent Voltron Force associated OCs. And! Showing their weapon of choice, the kunai! Pidge has his smart stars, T'kro has the chakram-like weapons, Noro gets to utilize the kunai. I think they focus primarily on hand-to-hand combat but can throw them, too.

Happy disability pride month!

This felt like a great time to introduce my Oc, Merritrixe, to the world! (Fun fact, her name is Merritrixie, because I jokingly asked my dad what he would name my Oc, before he’d seen her, and he actually came up with a good name for once. So I went with that.)

She’s kinda my fave creation, tbh? Like… she’s so much fun to draw! I’m still l learning when it comes to drawing Black hair, but I’m coming to understand that the sky is the limit, so she’s probably going to be getting a lot more hair styles in future. I have noticed how strange it is that my pens only have three colours that actually work for drawing darker skin tones… someday I’m going to be able to get some more, with more variety. I look forward to that.

She’s Lance’s adoptive sister, who loves to give him hell. Loves everyone to bits, and can hold, her own in a fight, but is more of a techie. (I do wonder if I was subconsciously influenced by my love of Shuri… :/ )

To run you through her I used the Everywriter Character Questions created by Charolyn on YouTube . These are great for getting to know your characters.

Name/Nickname: Merritrixie / Trix

Flaws: Personal space is a myth, calls everyone something mildly offensive as a nickname and thinks it’s cute (it’s not, and Lance is the only one who really tolerates it/likes it), will break things to see how to fix them.

Age: Same as Lance at all times of cannon, and before.

Talents: Metal working, tech, coding, surfing, motorcycling.

Height/Weight: 5ft, 4 inches. Why do you even wanna know that? She weight plenty. That’s all you need to know.

Hair color: naturally brown, sometimes dyes it neon colour for the heck of it.

What annoys them?: Improper digital hygiene, her eyes, blown bulbs being out back with the non-blown bulbs, Lance’s smug-face. She really hates that.

What excites them?: The lions of Voltron, other ships in the fleet, Earth snacks.

Eye color: Deep brown, yellow sclera.(her people are known for their distinctive blue sclera, but she was born without, and it frustrates her that she doesn’t really look like her father)

Markings/Scars: lots of small ones, mostly faded.

Do they have children?: never gonna happen.

Past relationships: Kissed her friend Keeba, once. Decided then and there that she had the superpower of ‘not wanting to fuck’. (Later mourned the fact she was, in her words, ‘merely aroace, not a fallen deity’)

Gender: Wouldn’t you like to know >:3. (She’s a Demi-girl. She/they pronouns. She/her is accepted, as is they/them. On occasion Zee/Zir. Once it was Heli/Coptor for a week, until her friends realised she was trolling them. It made her happy that they just rolled with it anyway, and still allows them to use them as personal pronouns as a result)

Their most precious possession: Her father’s knife.

Parents: Her mother died during childbirth, thus she only knows her from pictures. Her father, Mensa, stayed with her until a group of Alliance soldiers ran them off their homeworld, hunting them on behalf of allied planets for her wings. They wound up homeless for a while, but he kept her spirits up. Until Calypso found them hiding behind a fallen tree during a military raid she was conducting, to free livestock-slaves. She welcomed them both aboard, welcomed their languages, and culture. Offered them refuge and safety for the rest of their lives, asking only in return that they never give up hope for a better life. Mensa didn’t adapt quite as fast as Trix did, but did well, until fever caught him and significant chunk of the crew off guard. Lack of medical supplies meant that the infected were gone within a week. Trix was devastated, and felt she could no longer stay in a place where everything remained her on him. She moved to Santiana, who takes care of her as a daughter, but never directly treats her as such. She doesn’t want to step of the legacy left by Mensa. Both women are now Trix’s mothers, she knows this like it’s tattooed on her heart.

Siblings: Imogen, Maui, Cogx, Lance. All adoptive. Maui was from her days with Calypso. Imogen and Lance she met during later years when doing rounds on the Luria, and they became like cousins, until Lance called them siblings, and it stuck. Cogx is her sibling from her time on the Santiana. She has no idea what gender or pronouns to use anymore, they change every week.

Their darkest secret: She was the one who accidentally burnt the mast down. She may have blamed Lance.

Sexual orientation: Sex is gross, yucky, keep it away. Boy sex, girl sex, all gross! Asexuality, bitch!

Their biggest fear: Ostriches. (Don’t ask)

Nationality: Her father was a Lion Rider, thus she’s half Ariel. However, her mother was originally from Africa, Somalia. There’s a lot of her mother’s culture she wishes she knew more about, but settles for what she remembers her father telling her. She wishes she had more clothes like her mother wore… but Calypso has had to be firm on the fact they simply can’t afford the additional expenses. This came to a boiling point, when Trix pointed out Calypso is a clothes horse (very many colours) and Calypso had to explain that she was actually only wearing the spare clothes, and had embraced the style of ‘whatever works I guess’. Calypso eventually managed to set aside enough to buy a dirac for Trix, who subsequently wore it to Santiana and Calypso’s wedding. Her specific identity ended up being more intertwined with the ship’s culture, which is very multicultural, thus the ships became a ‘nationality’ of sorts, recognised with law by most other Maatai (their species).

Are they sociable?: like a newborn golden retriever.

Intelligence level: Whip-smart. When it comes to tech. With people… less so.

Health conditions: A formal diagnosis was never received, and by the time she was old enough to seek one, she didn’t care. But her right arm, right wing, and left leg didn’t develop properly. She’s also missing a few bones here and there, such as her collar bone, a few ribs, and some in her hands a feet that required surgery to support. She can’t fly, but has improvised. Hence her propensity towards tech: it gave her the ability to fly back.

Where do they live?: The Santiana.

Closest friends: Lance, Calypso, Santiana, Imogen, Cogx, Maui. Also her pet rock, but she pretends she doesn’t talk to a rock, because she thinks that makes her weird (nobody cares of she’s talking to a rock, they’re space pirates, they have all done crazier stuff).

Any secret powers/abilities?: She has never burned a grilled cheese.

Employment status: Under the employ of The Dreadnautli.

Ambitions/aspirations: Someday, wants to lick the sun. Also, wants to fix a lion of Voltron, but mostly the sun licking.

How do they view themselves? : I’m too hot! Hot damn. Call the police, and the fire man! (She has a lot of self worth)

How do others view them?: Loud. Funny. Loyal. Caring. Breaks stuff. Fixes things. Lovable. Don’t-leave-alone-with-explosives.

Interests/hobbies: Painting. Poetry.

Drugs/alcohol?: She’s done marijuana a few times (does so on a regular basis)

Physical strength: Can move most furniture on her own, but cannot lift the wardrobe)

Clothing style: Layered fashion. Lightweight and comfortable for ease of movement.

Level of confidence: Extreme.

Past trauma?: Pfffft- those are called anecdotes, and she’s fine! (She’s got major issues, and still has nightmares from when they were run out of their village)

Personal hygiene: Bathes. Sometimes. If someone reminds her to.

Favorite foods: Lahoh, The weird blue spiked fruit they found on a moon one time, anything that isn’t a little bit mouldy.

Daily routines: Fixes what needs fixing. Nothing else beyond that.

Favorite places to be: In the middle of a celebration!

Despite my personal love of yapping, I am actually terrible at it. So anything else is just going to either stay in my brain, or be coaxed out by an ask.

So. @toastess-with-the-mostess and @1nkers had done this back in December and I guess I was inspired to do so with T'kro and Ryn. And. Uh. I put it off for a while. Oops. But, I finished it and with these two. Poor Ryn deals with a lot with T'kro, but he adores them nonetheless. I don't remember where they nabbed the original, but. Yup.
