It’s quiet in here with your headphones on, volume higher and higher as they get louder and louder. You focus on your work, and do tomorrow’s too, when you check if the voices are still ringing in the kitchen (they are).
A door slams. One of them is leaving.

It’s late, but what are you going to do, go home? No way. Not yet. It’s not past time.
Your friends don’t question it, and you stay away, longer and longer, knowing that whatever is waiting at home gets worse by the minute.
So maybe you stay out forever. Or maybe you stay in.
