A decidedly non-princess-like giggle was barely smothered under long delicate fingers pressed to a poorly hidden grin.
“Princess,” Coran admonished. “I hardly think that’s appropriate given the circumstance.” His own mustache twitching suspiciously.
“Of course,” Allura forced herself to a near frown to get the smile off of her face, though the humor still twinkled in her eyes. “I will let you work then. Please, let me know if you need me further.” She quickly fled the room, peels of laughter echoing as the doors to the infirmary slipped shut.
“Now, you were saying...” Coran turned his attention back to the Paladins and their somewhat “sticky” predicament.
“Lance fell in a hole.” Pidge stated blandly from somewhere in the middle of the group. Coran could see her boots and one was tapping impatiently.
“I’m sorry. Okay, I already said it like a thousand times!” Lance’s words were angry, but his face was red and his eyes downcast. At least Coran could see his face, between Shiro and Hunk’s shoulders, most of the rest of him was not visible.
“It wasn’t your fault.” Shiro sighed. It seemed this was not the first time he’d broken up this particular fight.
“So, after Lance fell...” Hunk started.
“And Keith laughed at me!” Lance interjected.
A growl from somewhere behind Lance indicated Keith’s feelings on the matter.
“Shiro and I reached down to lift him out. Only...” Hunk stopped. He kept trying to look over his shoulder to see Coran, but was getting kind of cross-eyed in the process.
“Only I was coated in whatever was in the hole.” Lance frowned. “And when they pulled me up, I couldn’t get my arms free from them and I kind of struggled a little and maybe pulled them in closer?”
“It’s okay, Lance.” Shiro reassured from where he was pressed chest first onto the boys left side. Their arms were bound between them and their bodies were stuck chest to thigh.
“Right and by the time we figured out he was sticky. We were...stuck.” Hunk spoke from a similar situation on the right side. “Pidge thought she could apply a salve the natives had that was supposed to help. I, um, well, my arm was cramping so she crawled in between to help me and apparently...”
“Apparently the natives are idiots.” Pidge snapped. “They found it all very amusing.”
“And Keith laughed at me!” Lance pointed out again and another answering growl met his words.
“Alright, well now I see how most of you ended in this predicament, stuck together like a fledgling flock of slimerialian seabass. I’ve got the scanners working on a salve that will work to separate you. I don’t know if the one you had simply doesn’t work on Altean materials or humans or if you say the natives were playing a prank on you?” Coran swallowed back any humor from his voice, after all he was a professional. “Now then, how did Number Four end up stuck to Number Three’s...um...” Coran faltered, “well, behind him.”
“He laughed at me!” Lance snarled.
“So you thought this was a good idea?” Keith yelled from behind Lance.
“No, I really just wanted to hit you.” Lance snapped.
“Well congratulations! You hit me and now I’m stuck to your...”
“Keith!” Shiro snapped cutting him off mid rant.
“Don’t fear Paladins! There is no sticky situation that Coran cannot unstick! I will have you free from your predicament a just a few varga!” Coran couldn’t hold in the snicker as the groans followed him into the lab.
