SO ABOUT 707′S NAME
I have a theory. I put it in a theory book on wattpad and will now put it here.
Okay. Yes MysMes came out in 2016 and it’s 2018. But I recently started playing it again and plus someone else might still care. If anyone doesn’t know what it is “a South Korean female oriented visual novel game developed by Cheritz.” as google puts it. You should check it out. Anyways, let’s dive right in! So earlier I was watching some theory videos about the game on YouTube. I watched like two that were about Seven. They both mentioned that 707, one of his many names, is also the name for an error code that involves memory and data on electronics. They pointed out that Seven was the only character that could remember you playing his route after you reset the game to play someone else’s. None of the characters are aware of any previous data or anything of the sorts. Error 707 is caused by memory corruption. It’s basically when memory can’t be released (forgotten) and him, 707, is the only one who has memory of past routes you’ve played. So, possibly, whatever causes the other characters to loose their memory has no effect on him. And, plus, he’s a hacker who’s really big into computers and would know the meaning of that error. Coincidence? I think not! (Lolol)But besides this, he was the one who made the app. Not only in the game did he say this, but also in the promo video for Mystic Messenger. And he breaks the fourth wall A LOT. Occasionally the other characters may say something to crack the fourth wall, but Seven flat out obliterates it. And if you choose to go along with him then all the other characters get confused (they do anyways really). In the beginning, if you try to tell them you’re a boy Seven asks why you play this game. That’s only one of the many times he breaks the fourth wall. And maybe V’s in on it too though? He did have Seven create the app, and they work together and talk about secret things. V rarely chats so he never touches on the subject. We don’t know. But I just wonder why all of this is? I don’t play many otome games, but none of the other’s I’ve played have broken the fourth wall this way. It’s like Seven has a constant need to remind us it’s not real… But there isn’t really another otome game out there like Mystic Messenger.
Here’s an example of this. This happened to me today. I’m on day eight of Yoosung’s route. Know that this is the farthest I’ve gotten in the game so far. Every time I’d try to play before I got the five day bad end. I’d always flirt with Seven too much~ But that’s besides the point.
I just wanted to point out how accurate this is. And that maybe his nickname 707 has to be related to all of that. (One source connected other cheritz games to this all, but I don’t really know anything about that. I won’t preach what I don’t understand.)
Now let’s get down to some of my speculations. Anyone who’s played the game remember when Seven dressed as a nun? God he looked amazing. I need you too see this.
This may seem irrelevant, but I swear it’s not (completely). You may not know, but Seven is actually Catholic. You may think that nun of this matters. (PUN INTENDED) But did you know the number 707 actually has religious significance?
In Catechism of the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II, it sums up, in book form, the beliefs of the Catholic faithful. And in it, it has this:
“In Theophanies and the Law- 707 Theophanies (manifestations of God) light up the way of the promise, from the patriarchs to Moses and from Joshua to the visions that inaugurated the missions of the great prophets. Christian tradition has always recognized that God’s Word allowed himself to be seen and heard in these theophanies, in which the cloud of the Holy Spirit both revealed him and concealed him in its shadow. ”
Another nickname he has is Seven, Defender of Justice. Which could tie into this, and the fact there’re parts where he has to take on the big responsibility of keeping MC (You, the player.) safe. He also worries for the safety of the other RFA members. The big thing he’s doing is trying to protect the RFA and hunt down Unknown in order to keep everything safe. He spends a ton of time doing this. Another thing to mention is that he’s really supportive of MC getting with other characters, AFTER you’ve played his route and he remembers it all. I’ve heard there are times he tells you he’s fine if you chose someone else over him as long as you’re happy. So if that isn’t holy and sweet I don’t know what is. But anyway, Seven’s a huge part of MC joining the RFA and being able to plan the party. Heck, he made the app and none of this would’ve happened without him.
When it says “Theophanies (a visible manifestation to humankind of God) light up the way of the promise… that inaugurated the missions of the great prophets.” it could apply. Seven helps light up the way and get MC started to carry out the mission of planning another RFA party. He is the theophany and she is the great prophet. Without MC they wouldn’t be planning another party, but without Seven who knows? And he has referred to himself as God Seven before.
He’s also referred to himself as angelic. And 707 is actually known as an Angel Number. Which are practically numbers the angels use to communicate to us and tell us what to do. I’m going to quote this article I found on the meanings of numbers here. “The number 0, is the first number in the number sequence, is very closely associated to with the Divine. Having that attributes of oneness and wholeness, it depicts infinity and eternity. It is known as the beginning point of everything. The number 7, on the other hand, is linked with individuality, study, and inner-wisdom.” Seven is a good nickname for him if you think about it after seeing the meaning of the number. He’s pretty unique and individual, as well as super smart, and pretty wise when he’s serious. But you have to add the definitions of both in order to understand the meaning behind 707. The article states, “It means that you should investigate the aspects of your life more closely, rather than judge them. You need to be more self-aware and make rational decisions in your life. Once this has been achieved, you can have a vision of your aspirations.” And in ways this does relate to Seven. From my experience, I know that he wanted to help Yoosung stop playing too many games and get his life back on track. He may have used his constant teasing as a way to remind or even eventually persuade Yoosung to give up games and take back his life. He also talked about himself once, and his lifestyle centered around his job. He reflected on it rather than judge himself about it.
But wait- there’s more! The significance of the number 707 resonates around one’s existence. “You should also help other people when they need you; even though they do not ask for your help. It is believed to increase your faith in yourself and others. With elevated faith, you become more spiritually inclined and aware of your surroundings.” Which as I’ve said before, he does help others.
Here’s something else: “Meaning of the number 707 when it comes to love- …the 707 angel number can strengthen your relationship with your partner. If let’s suppose, you are single; it will teach you many things at different levels about love and relationships; which will help you in your future… It is a symbol of freedom from limitations. You need to achieve oneness, and there are times when you need to do things on your own that make you happy.” I really want to emphasize that last bit. Let’s go back to what I said about Seven remembering you played his route after starting over. Because he lets you know that he remembers, but also that he’s okay with it, is important. He’s heartbroken you chose someone else, but as long as you’re happy he doesn’t care. He obviously understands sometimes you have to go your own ways to really be happy.
But that’s really all I have right now. I think there’s strong evidence that could suggest either of these two theories are the reason behind him being 707. Maybe both were and influence and Seven’s name has a double meaning? Or maybe I just obsess over these sorts of things too much. ┐(͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)┌
