#voltron worldbuilding

so like, here me out; i know its easy just to call that shit a lion and move on and whatever- but what if voltron leaned into the fact that the robots are (sometimes) made by literal fucking aliens from a planet that's not earth? what if the altean "lion" was a lion-esc creature but was otherwise was clearly Not An Earth Lion??? PLEASE WEP I'M BEGGING YOU TO GET WEIRD WITH IT

Back on my voltron worldbuilding (weaponbuilding?) bullshit with some graphs about the lions. No reason for this except that I was ranking them on certain attributes and thought they would look good as spider graphs.

The attributes I picked: Speed, Armour, Strength, Agility, Size, Adaptability.

These are (sometimes loosely) based on how the lions are canonically described. Each attribute is scored out of five.

Notes:

I have defined 'adaptability' as ease of modification and/or repair.

'Strength' is physical strength, not like, the power of their laser beams.

Being bigger or smaller isn't inherently good or bad, so maybe size doesn't belong here, but these are my graphs and I do what I want.

Red Lion

(Speed: 5. Strength: 1. Adaptability: 2. Size: 1. Agility: 5. Armour: 1.)

I put red first because this is the clearest graph.

Red is said to be the fastest and most agile of the lions. To balance that out, she's also the least armoured, and isn't as strong as the others.

Green Lion

(Speed: 4. Strength: 2. Adaptability: 5. Size: 2. Agility: 1. Armour: 4.)

Green is the most adaptable, since Pidge could canonically modify her enough to add cloaking. We don't know if Pidge ever tried that on the other lions, but I like to think she did and it didn't work.

With her shield and everything, Green is pretty armoured for her size. That comes at the cost of agility.

Yellow Lion

(Speed: 1. Strength: 4. Adaptability: 4. Size: 4. Agility: 2. Armour: 5.)

Yellow is the most armoured and resistant lion (I swear to god that's canon but I don't remember when it was said).

He's pretty fucking strong too, and more adaptable thanks to his sturdiness. However, Yellow is slow compared to the rest.

Black Lion

(Speed: 2. Strength: 5. Adaptability: 1. Size: 5. Agility: 4. Armour: 2.)

Black is the biggest and strongest lion. She's not as armoured as some but she is agile for her size.

She has like, a vibe. As if she's less grounded than the other lions. I imagine she's the most mystical of the lions, which makes her hard to modify (though that's also cause she's fucking huge. Have you seen the black lion lately??)

Blue Lion

(Speed: 3. Strength: 3. Adaptability: 3. Size: 3. Agility: 3. Amour: 3.)

You may have noticed that all of the lions are the highest ranked in at least one thing, and the worst ranked in at least one thing. They all have their major strengths and weaknesses, with the exception of Blue.

You ever notice how both Green and Red are smaller than Blue, and both Yellow and Black are bigger? I take Blue to be the balanced lion, middle ranked in all attributes. That means they aren't the best at anything, but they also aren't the worst.
