By the time I’ve walked through the doors of Warsaw’s Central Station, filled out a volunteer application form, and received my red vest and name tag from an organizer unfazed by my American accent, only a few minutes have elapsed. There’s a tent outside with a kitchen where meals are prepared for those arriving in the country, as well as kiosks where refugees can receive assistance in English, Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian. It’s a slow day, but they all still need help — even from a newbie like me.

Today was the first time I felt I put all my effort in presenting what I understood about plastic problems. Being proud of speaking to and engaging with about 150 PSE students, I could sense the real unconsciousness of these young teenagers towards serious environmental problems. No one was to blame why they were a little out of control during the 2 hours presentation. I understood they were at the age of being rebellious and had no idea about the definition of life rather seeing life as a lovey-dovey happy ending story as long as beauty and money are provided. Even though it was a bit hard to handle the presentation because they thought plastics had nothing to do with their lives, we managed to successfully send the messages and end the workshop.
Speaking to PSE kids was such a great experience for me. I admitted that their uncontrolled noise and misbehavior made me a little disappointed. But at the same time, they kindda brought me smile when I thought of the word”teacher teacher” those students kept calling me during the workshop as if I was a professional speaker. :)
