Prompt 2- Glow

The water is warm to touch. Nice to swim in, Vortice thinks. And it makes a pretty green green glow when she touches. It'll be even brighter with kicking legs and moving arms swirling the glow up. Nice.

"Come on!"

Even nicer with friends.

Murphy scowls. Draws back. "No. I am busy, thank you very much."

Vortice tilts her head. "Murphy finish all snacks. Busy what?"

"How did you-" Murphy bristles, cheeks warming to red and her tentacles wiggling about her skirts. "No, never mind. I am a lady and a lady doesn't just- jump off into strange underground lakes!"

Sounds like an excuse to Vortice.

Or maybe Murphy is scared of the water?

"Water deep. Murphy good at swim? Not swim?"

"Of course I can swim." The young woman looks away, cheeks still flushed. "It's just- I don't swim around others. That's all. No swimming."

Oh, it's because Murphy is what is called embarrassed. Vortice doesn't really get that, but Naulita goes like that sometimes when she feels particularly bad about not remembering something.

Embarrassed isn't fun, that's what Vortice knows. But...she tugs at her hair. But there's only Vortice and Murphy here, in this lake deep in the earth. No one to embarrass.

"Ookay."

"Good." Murphy relaxes.

Shouldn't have. Makes it easy for Vortice to just grab her arm just so and heave her over her shoulder, jumping into the lake.

"How dare-!" The complaint breaks off into a shriek as they hit the water.

The water that glow around them as Voritce easily kicks up to the surface with Murphy in her arms. Water that glows with each movement made.

"See? Pretty. Fun. No embarrass!"

Murphy looks wet, as she folds her arms over her chest. "Well, I guess it is pretty." A tentacle reaches out to prod at the surface, bringing up the green glow with the touch. "And since my clothes are ruined already..."

"Fine! You win! Put me in, I'm swimming!"

Vortice cheers. "Yay!"

She knew Murphy would want to play in the glow-water. She knew!

The Bottom of the Whirlpool

The thing is, Percy's gotten used to getting pulled out of his bed in the middle of night at camp.

Mostly by Blackjack, for another sea life rescue.

He has a routine for it. Hop on Blackjack, have the pegasus fly him over, drop into the ocean, have whatever sea life that's asking for help lead him to the problem. Usually hippocampus, on the Greek god side of things, but Percy's helped out all sorts of different animals. Like dolphins, sharks, lots of different fish, some magical, some not... he's ever helped out baby whales before!

But this. He stares. This is new.

Lord, can you help us? One of the hippocampus nudges at him. It's not a nymph but it's close enough, Lord, we hope.

Yeah, he can see that.

Lots of white at first, white that breaks down into strands, strands of hair. Long white hair. Some of it braided, a lot just hanging loose.

Connected to a thrashing human-shaped form tangled in what looks like...bronze chains. Like celestial bronze, he'd know that glow anywhere from Riptide.

Which. Bad sign. Bad sign.

The human shape is definitely like a nymph's or nereid's but its owner is too...pale. Percy feels heat in his cheeks as he tries to find somewhere to look, that isn't too...exposed. He's used to nudity, lots of nymphs go for it, but it's somehow different in someone in human colored skin.

On one long thrashing leg, he catches a dark tattoo, patterned in curls and spirals. Something about the sight makes Percy...dizzy.

Okay enough looking, he's here to help, isn't he? Even strange not-nymphs. He swims closer, deciding where to start.

She's not drowning, not struggling for air. Something he thought might be the case since, you know, the entire almost a nymph thing.

"Okay, I got this." He glances over at one of the hippocampus. "Can one of you guys try calming her down?"

One whinnies. "Our efforts have only worsened the tangle, my Lord."

Great. That's just great.

Percy takes a deep breath (of water) and moves somewhere she should see him, raising his hands. Can she understand him, as different of a sea person(?) she is?

"Hey, I'm here to help, could you hold still? Please?"

"Help?" What answers is more of a sound than the mental communication he's used to, in the ocean, but he still somehow understands. "Yes, help!"

The woman stops struggling, hanging still in the chains. That handled, Percy swims forward, taking out Riptide.

At the glowing sword, red eyes widen. "Sword!"

"Right, uh, I'm just cutting."

"Cut. Sword." The woman doesn't move after that, staying as still as one can in water as Percy cuts the chains off. He doesn't quite let them fall, Grover would kill him for littering. But he does note where they are. To figure out what to do with them later.

The woman claps her hands together. Murky red eyes almost glow in his direction, through the floating wild hair.

"Thank thank thank! Vortice thank-?" She tilts her head in clear question.

He answers before his brain reminds him, hey dangerous monster things, remember?

"Percy."

The smile is clear, even through the muzzle. A muzzle that Percy is going to do something about, thanks. "Vortice thank Percy!"

Y'know now that I think about it, Vortice's story does make it that Nautila is your mom kinda

Playing around with Vortice (the new Awakener) and she's FUN. I like her a lot, she really fits well with my Exalt-as-much-as-possible playstyle. That is, her extra attacks and boosts that happen right after another Awakener's Exalt. It's nice for when your Exalt damage doesn't quite wipe out your enemy but Vortice can finish them off! Mostly because that damage is actually decent, if you stack up your stats a bit.

I think she works really well with Doll Inferno or Miryam, who both have abilities all focused around stacking as much Aliemus as possible.

Other possibilities: Ramona, Thais, Mouchette.

I also believe that a couple of Wardens who aren't exactly built for Aliemus gathering, like Caecus or Castor, would also work well with her.

I would not personally recommend Kathigu-Ra, since Vortice seems to be built specifically in mind to nullify some of Kathigu-Ra's abilities by wiping out the Burn cards (probably because they'd be BROKEN together if not the case).

sword, dress, thirsty, duo, for the morimens ask game?

Sword-

I really like playing Aequor+Caro or Aequor+Chaos.

BUT I'm a person who likes to fiddle around with EVERYTHING. Right now I'm doing Chaos+Caro for Main Storyline.

Dress-

Another character design I really like...Daffodil. I do love me a woman with a BIG hat. And her dress, her heels, SO refined.

Thirsty-

Oooh, what to pick... I really liked how chill and in control Wanda was in hers. BUT I did Fauxborn Murphy's recently and like that one A LOT.

Paralyzed AND tentacles? Murphy being angry because she doesn't know what it means to have a more positive feeling of want anymore? Waiting for the sunrise together? Don't mind if I do.

Duo-

Vortice with any of other Seafarers. Like it's really cool to see that her interest in Goliath is for a GOOD fight, that really says A LOT about her and what she likes to do.

But Vortice is SUCH an oddity among the Aequor Awakeners, even considering Aurita who is another non-Seafarer. Would Tulu identify her power as anything similar he's known? Would Miryam think her a worthwhile convert? DOES Goliath like Vortice trying to throw down with him?
