President Barack Obama’s ratings are surprisingly on the up and up. There is perception among the electorate that his executive actions on #Immigration and #Cuba are well received, as well as slight improvement in the economic situation.
I concur with the analysts that this will be no ordinary ‘lame-duck’ remainder of term for the president. Although one has to ask, politically, why these actions were not taken at a moment where it might’ve made some strides in the electorate and stem the tide of republican gains. The question is academic now.
I invite you to also reflect on the volatility of the electorate and its direct responsibility on the present – and coming – political situation in Washington. Few point to voter’s accountability in the woes of the polity. After all they are receptive to the imaginaries brought forth by media and bring motivational/emotional (as well as rational) baggage to the polls. It is them who then complain when the polity and its components bring them mostly woe.
