Legal experts and civil rights advocates have vowed to shoot down President Donald Trump's attempt to exclude undocumented immigrants from being counted in the census for the purpose of redrawing Congressional districts.
The U.S. census counts incarcerated people as residents of where they are imprisoned. In many prison towns, that has led to voting districts made up primarily of prisoners who can't vote.

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled on two highly anticipated gerrymandering cases in Texas and North Carolina, in orders that mean most of the controversial maps in both states will likely be used this fall's midterm elections.
Gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries.
This is the insidious way that our fall elections are already being tilted. If this isn’t fought hard enough, if people don’t stop worrying about civility and disrupt this from happening, we will be a well-established authoritarian regime by winter.
