❛ Since when have you turned this sly yet timid, Verso ? ❜ she asks, raising her eyes to the heavens — the starry, silent sky over Lumière staring back at her, winking with it's myriad lights like a swarm of distant fireflies. That timorous demeanor almost ill-suits the suave and confident image of the charming artist he seems to exude; but she is family, she has had the chance to see and know more of him, and there's nothing farther from the truth, when it comes to her little brother. It's a matter of sensibility.
She has seen the aftermath of an emotional delusion, has known the bitter taste of rejection — at times. The world barely spins to one's precise whims, and there is no way for anyone to know how the person they fancy would react to one's ideas and proposals to a date, especially if as sudden as the ones he is thinking about. He, truth be told, could have any person in Lumière he wishes for; there is no denying their name precedes them wherever they go, and that his ties and talent to both art and music would make his choice swoon at the first gift — the sweetest, dedicated aria on the piano as a first posy.
She moves her bangs from her eyes with a nudge of the head — one that resembles a nod a bit too much for her tastes. And now, he's there, toying with her as he used to do when they were children to gain favors or ask Clea to intercede to their parents. A word too many, and she's pulled into such a scheme. To top it all, one that resembles a teen's clumsy attempt to romance, actually.
❛ So you want me to take Julie and the others by the harbor tonight, where — and none of them suspect it — we'll be waiting for your entrance. And you'll pull her aside and ask her to join you for the festival, ❜ she gesticulates as she recalls Verso's rather innocent and naive plan for the evening; Clea is no cupid, though; she barely stands events of that kind to begin with, but it's all so — well, so terribly teen-like of him to think of the best way to avoid any chances of rejection... that she cannot resist the temptation, she wants to see where this will all take him. ❛ Oh, and please. You said please. ❜
A sigh. The lengths he'd prefer to traverse instead of considering the easier and most instinctive route — like she usually does — amaze and amuse her. That, though, she cannot say. ❛ Alright, we can try this out. But the moment she asks me anything else, I'll deny even knowing you. Deal ? ❜
