Was listening to my comfort series (cause of Wedge obviously) and noticed something interesting this listen through. So many people complain about Star Wars back in the day being much better cause it wasn’t woke.
This book, published in 1997 and part of a beloved series among fans of the OT has a race of aliens called the Vratix who are explained in depth and important to this book. They use gender neutral pronouns and prefer they/them. They go through different parts of their life cycle where they are capable of reproducing or not.
No one in the book bats an eyelid at this and no one in the real world seems to care either. I mean I’ve read this series at least once a year for the last decade minimum and this is the first time it’s even occurred to me.
