There are tales around her village about the unexplained flashes of light coming from the castle towers. There are the run of the mill stories of ghosts who still haunt the castle but Irene does not scare easily. Hearing about the St. Ives lights all through her childhood had increased her curiosity through the years until finally she was old enough to travel on her own and find out for herself. Irene imagined a very wealthy family abandoned the castle because they either fell on hard times or wanted to live somewhere away from the freezing temperature of her country. Whatever the case Irene hoped that there was a library full of books still in the castle as she loved to read but her small village only had a very small supply of books. After walking for an hour, Irene suddenly had the feeling that she was being watched. Constantly looking around trying to see if there was anything or anyone around her, Irene continued her trek to St. Ives. After another hour she finally spotted the castle and to her utter amazement, Irene saw a spark of light at the topmost tower window. Feeling a little excited about what she may discover Irene continued her journey to the castle.
