anonymous said: Hey so I had something pop up in my head out of nowhere and it's gonna sound crazy but I'll give it a shot! Can you do one where the reader started distancing herself from everyone and everyone is noticing so they come up with a plan but it doesn't end well, in the end, she tells them that she doesn't belong there and that she doesn't fit in. It ends with fluff or whatever🤪
plot: y/n feels like david would be better off without her
a/n: i got carried away and this strayed a little bit from the request but i hope you like it! send me some david or shawn requests!!

david, of course, was the first one to notice when y/n started to come around less and less. he started to notice that she would blow him off, especially when he made plans with the other members of the vlog squad. he thought maybe one of their friends had made her uncomfortable, but couldn’t come up with a single person that was a common thread, so then he thought that maybe it was just him that was the problem. maybe y/n wanted to break up, david thought, but was quickly proved wrong when carly had asked him why y/n was acting so distant recently.
mariah suggested the thought that maybe she wasn’t feeling the group settings, so she invited her to go get coffee, and y/n accepted after being reassured multiple times that it would only be them.
when mariah and y/n met for said coffee, mariah tried to dance around the subject for a while, but eventually, she found the words tumbling out of her mouth.
“so, david mentioned that he thought you might be wanting to break up with him…” mariah says, but it comes out as more of a question, and truthfully, she was kind of scared of how y/n would react and even more scared that y/n would confirm david’s doubts.
“what?” y/n almost chokes on her coffee. “why would he think that?”
“i don’t know…” mariah says, but quickly continues, “we’ve all noticed that you have been hanging out with all of us less.” y/n nods her head slowly, and moves her gaze from mariah’s face to the window, not wanting her friend to see the water that seemed to quickly form in her eyes. the two girls stayed quiet for a couple minutes, that seemed to drag on for hours, mariah started to wonder if y/n was going to ever answer her.
“i…” y/n starts to explain, but quickly closes her mouth. “if i tell you this, you can’t tell anyone okay? not david, not heath, absolutely no one.” mariah nods her head. “david and i have been together for almost a year and a half now, and we have obviously known each other longer than that, but a couple weeks ago, he mentioned that he wanted me to move in.” y/n takes a sharp breath, the tears in her eyes only collecting more as she talks.
“you don’t want to?” mariah asks softly, grabbing y/n’s hand that rested on the table.
“no, no. i mean, yes, i do. so bad. but i feel like… i feel like david deserves to be with someone so much better than me. he deserves someone who can be one of the stars of his vlog. someone who makes him laugh the way the rest of you can make him laugh. i’m just normal, boring old me. i’m not a youtuber or have a crazy talent, i have a desk job, and…” y/n can’t bear to continue, she lets out a sob, but quickly covers her face, trying not to get the attention of the other coffee drinkers in the cafe.
“oh, honey, you know david doesn’t care about all of that stuff. he loves you, y/n. so much.” mariah squeezes the hand that isn’t covering y/n’s face.
“i know, i know. and i love him more than i have ever loved anyone. i just feel like i don’t belong, riah.”
-
when they left the coffee shop, mariah quickly broke her promise to y/n and called david. it broke david’s heart to hear that the girl he loved with his entire heart was struggling to feel like she fit in with the people he considered family.
david quickly made his way over to her apartment and let himself in. he found her asleep in her bedroom with the tv playing reruns of grey’s anatomy on a low volume in the background. he couldn’t help but smile at her. he slipped off his shoes and crawled in behind her, making sure to hold her as tightly as he could without waking her.
when she woke up, she wasn’t expecting to find herself in the arms of the love of her life, but nonetheless, she snuggled closer to him. she didn’t quite realize how much she missed him until she was in his arms after avoiding him for what felt like weeks.
“baby?” david murmurs, when he feels her move.
“hi.” she whispers, back, suddenly feeling guilty for the ways she’s been acting and feeling.
“i miss you.” he says, softly kissing the crown of her head.
“I’m sorry.” she says, trying not to cry for the second time.
“hey, it’s okay.”
“mariah told you?” y/n asks and david nods.
“don’t be mad at her, she told me you told her not to tell me.”
“i’m not.” y/n says, pulling back to finally look at him.
“if you’re not ready to move in with me, you could have told me, you know? i would never be mad at you for not being ready. we’ll get there eventually, baby.”
“that’s not it, dave. trust me. i would follow you to the end of the world if you asked me to.” she sighs, “i just wonder if you would be better off without me.”
“why would you think that, y/n? i think i might die if you leave me.”
“i’m so normal.” y/n says, and pulls away from david, causing both of them to feel cold. “you deserve to be with someone extraordinary.”
“you are. and just because i don’t put you in the vlog much doesn’t mean that you mean any less to me than the people i do, or that you don’t belong in it. i have so many clips that would have made it into the vlog if it wasn’t you. and as awful as that sounds, i just don’t want to share you. and besides that, the fans love you. they’re always commenting on how pretty you are or funny and how they want you in it more. i’m sorry, i just didn’t want to share you, i never meant to hurt your feelings.”
“david,” y/n turns back to her side to look at him, “you never made me feel like this. it was nothing you did, okay? i’m sorry. and you don’t have to share me, i’m all yours.”
-
a month later, so much had changed. y/n now didn’t distance herself, it didn’t happen overnight, but with david’s constant reasurance and mariah being there for her to talk to, she started to feel like the way she did when she first met david. they were planning on moving y/n in as soon as her lease at her apartment ended. she spent more time at david’s than her own anyway.
one morning, y/n woke up to a post notification from david’s account with the title being “SHE KEEPS TRYING TO MAKEOUT WITH ME” she furrowed her eyebrows as she clicked on the notification.
when she presses the play button, david’s face appears, and he says “hey, guys, it’s david.” with a giggle before it cuts to the intro screen.
“soooo, many of you know that i have been in a relationship with a very pretty girl for about a year in a half. if you didn’t know, this is her.” he says as he points over to a part of the screen and a picture of y/n pops up. “very pretty i know.” he laughs, “anyway, some of you have been demanding that you get to see some more of her.” a bunch of screen grabs come up of fans asking for david to post more of the two of them or just y/n in general. “so, i thought i’d give you an entire vlogs worth of her.”
the screen goes black, and then y/n appears, asleep in david’s bed. david screams and y/n jumps up. when she sees that david is fine, she flops backwards and rubs her eyes. “you’re a fucking asshole david dobrik.” and david laughs.
then it cuts to y/n’s twenty-first, way before they started dating, when they had just met. y/n was gone. she smiles at the camera, posing for the picture, but laughs loudly when david says “it’s a video, do something!” and you can see the panic that goes across the plastered y/n’s face. “david! i don’t know what to do!” she whispers, with a hand halfway over her mouth like the camera could no longer see and hear her.
it then goes to a couple months into their relationship, when david set up a camera in his living room to film a sit down portion of his video, when y/n comes in, and lays across his lap, not even noticing the camera. “i hate you.” she says.
“why?” he asks, with a loud laugh.
“i don’t, i love you.” her first i love you. david glances down at her in shock.
“for real?”
“don’t make me take it back.”
it cuts again, this time to a more recent day. this time, y/n is pretty certain that the clip was filmed by jason, “why won’t you just kiss me!” y/n yells, as she sits on david’s lap, with her hands on either side of his head.
“we need to do the podcast, babe” not budging.
“give me love, and i’ll leave you alone.”
“how about i give you a kiss, and you never leave me alone?” david smiles.
“even better!” she yells, leaning down, before it cuts off, and david appears again.
“so, yeah!” david claps. “that is only some of my favorite clips of her. i have so many more, that you probably will never see. but i promise that i won’t keep her to myself anymore. i hope you love her just a fraction of what i love her. but yeah! i’ll see you guys the next vlog! byeeee” the vlog cuts, and y/n grins, wondering how she could ever feel the way she had, when she had everything she had ever wanted.
Summary: Jeff and you have just started dating and you guys have it in for each other in the best way, but maybe the two of you aren’t ready to be attached at the hip yet? And maybe that’s ok?

Jeff paused the recording, bending down to capture your lips with his, smiling while his mouth rolled sensually over yours. His hands dropped to your waist, while yours rose to his neck, tousling his perfectly styled hair.
You angled your head, deepening the kiss, stroking his tongue with your own and he giggled at the slight moan you elicited.
Before you two could really get lost in it, however, Jeff muttered a hushed, “Fuck,” against your lips and pulled away, groaning reluctantly.
Confused, you raised an eyebrow at him, while Jeff ran a hand through his hair and sighed, not making eye contact.
You cocked your head. “What is it?”
Jeff shook his head, looking up at you and blushing. “I just-I want this to work so badly, Y/N. I really fucking like you and I just-I just want this to work.”
You smiled at his sweetness and put a hand on his shoulder. “For the record, I really fucking like you too. And who says it won’t work?”
Jeff raised his eyes to the ceiling as if searching for answers. He took your hand into both of his own and played with your fingers, folding and unfolding them over and over. “I want to take this slowly. Don’t get me wrong, I want nothing more than to lose myself in this.” He motioned to the space between you two.
You nodded. But you couldn’t help yourself from asking. “I don’t want to push you, and you don’t have to answer this, but...what’s stopping you?”
He was rotating the ruby ring you wore on your middle finger, the simple touch managing to send the butterflies in your stomach into a frenzy. “I’ve a bad habit of throwing myself into things-just, giving my all in a relationship when the other person’s not ready for that, or to the point where I don’t know who I am without it.” He was stroking your wrist with his thumb now, a surprisingly erotic, but also reassuring gesture. “I’m not saying that I don’t want that with you-that I don’t want something that intimate, but codependency-that’s a scary place, Y/N. I don’t want to go there again until I’m sure the other person is right there with me, you know?”
You understood completely. Although you couldn’t understand what it was like for Jeff to have recovered from that time in his life, you understood what it was like to be cautious of something potentially life changing.
“So no marriage proposals yet?” You pouted in an effort to make him smile and you were rewarded with that blinding grin of his, and a swift hug as he pulled you into his embrace.
“Not just yet, Y/N,” He whispered into your hair.
“Awwww, I’m going to have to return the ring then. Natalie’s going to be so disappointed; she was so hyped to be my maid of honor,” you teased.
Jeff laughed, only shaking his head at your antics.
When you two pulled apart, he used his hand to squeeze your cheeks and place a silly kiss on your ridiculously puckered lips.
You blushed, and cupped his face with both of your hands. “But seriously, Jeff, we will go slow. As slow as we want. Maybe we’ll realize we aren’t right for each other, but maybe...just maybe we’ll get to a place where we trust each other to the point where we’re not scared anymore, and that’s what I’m hoping for.”
Jeff looked at you, smiling, “You’re too fucking perfect, Y/N. You’re making it so hard to take this slow.”
You just stuck your tongue out childishly, unable to take a compliment. “And you’re HOT!”
A/N: I also put this in the david dobrik x reader tag, because I thought that that audience might enjoy it, too.

The music was loud, pumping through the speakers and hitting her eardrums. Stevie slammed back one, two then three drinks and now she was on her fourth, willing the clock to go a little bit faster but the more she tried, the slower it went it seemed. “I haven’t seen you around here before,” a voice whispered into her ear. It was just enough to startle her, but she played it cool, swiveled around in her bar stool and looked at the man who said it.
He was handsome with a scruffy beard and sweet eyes but she gave him a curt smile and offered nothing sweet of her own.
“Well, that’s because I don’t come here very often. That girl over there,” she pointed over his shoulder at her friend that was dancing with some of her other friends like they had a little too much to drink but she knew that they were probably less in than she was. Maybe they were lightweights or maybe that was just their personality, Jeff didn’t ask. “She’s my best friend. It’s her birthday.”
Jeff nodded and turned his attention away from her friend that was too wild to Jeff’s taste. He found amusement in the pretty girl that sat alone at a bar, spinning her straw around in her drink. Stevie looked so lost in her thoughts that Jeff almost didn’t come over to her but he was here now, so what did he have to lose. “Well good for her, even better for me. Can I get you a drink?”
“No, I think I’m good.”
“You think? Or you know?” He pried further, tilting his head to the side and she sighed, internally rolling her eyes but she secretly liked it. She lifted her glass in the air just slightly and nodded at it. Jeff acknowledged the drink but brushed it off. “I bet I can make you something ten times better than whatever the hell that is.”
“What makes you think that?” She asked.
“You’d just have to trust me on that one,” he winked at her, tapping his fingers on the sticky counter that probably had a magnitude of spilled alcohol dried on it at this point. Bars and clubs were not her scene and never have been so she was overly self-conscious about how many drinks she had ordered and what the right way to close a tab was and would be a waste of time to go and clean off her arms?
“I have a hard time trusting people,” she admitted jokingly but it wasn’t really a joke and Jeff sensed that because she didn’t laugh afterward, just chugged whatever liquid was left in her glass and slid it over to him. “As long as it has tequila in it, I’m in.”
“Deal.” Jeff hopped over the bar without batting an eyelash and began grabbing bottles and glasses and furrowing his brow in thought over what drink to make her that would make her want to call him later and she was so focused on that he didn’t notice her confused expression.
“Are you a bartender here?” She asked, laughing at him. He froze and looked at her, bashfully itching his forehead with the hand that held the tequila in it. She noticed his fingers and hands and felt the skin on her hips burn but she ignored that thought. She tried to replace it with all the things that she told herself when the last guy hit on her and the guy before that. Is it worth all the pain? Are you willing to do that again?
“I own the place, actually.” He poured some of the tequila in a glass and under the bar where she couldn’t really see, he added something else to it. She tried to lean as far over as possible to catch a glimpse but he used his free hand to push her back in her stool.
“Impressive. It’s…..nice,” she told him, looking around the place and really taking it in for what it was worth now that she knew the pair of hands that built it. That hung up all the old metal posters that looked like they could possibly be from Hobby Lobby or maybe he really stole them, she didn’t ask.
“You say that like you’re lying,” he chuckled at her.
“I’m just not used to coming to these types of places usually. In fact, I rarely go out as it is but again,” she told him, nodding towards her friends who were now dancing with random guys who seemed to be having too much fun with their mouth on their necks.
“Remind me to thank her before you leave,” Jeff said, putting the glass on the counter. She tried to ignore his last comment and look at the drink he made for her. He slid it over to her on a coaster, no spills. She made a mental note to tell him to train his employees how to avoid the spillage or maybe just how to clean counters but then she stopped herself. “Here, try this.”
“Wanna tell me what’s in it?” She asked, picking it up and tilting it from side to side, inspecting it but mostly raising her eyebrows at him with a smirk on her face. She wanted to drink it and she would drink it but she wanted to drag the conversation on as long as possible and Jeff didn’t mind that.
“Just tequila and grapefruit soda,” he shrugged.
“I could have made that with my eyes closed,” she mumbled, taking a sip of the drink and it was as good as she thought it would be but it wasn’t better than the drink she had earlier but she didn’t tell him that.
“Oh, no. You gotta know what to look out for. What drinks mix well with each other. Bartending is a skill.” He pointed at her with a smile on his face that made her laugh just a little bit. “Maybe I can teach you sometime,” he offered.
“Is that your way of asking me out?”
“Did it work?”
She hesitated. “Ask me later.” There was a smirk on both their faces as she went in for another sip of her drink. Jeff put his hands on the edge of the bar and leaned on them, looking at her curiously. She felt a little nervous and a little excited all at the same time when he looked at her.
She was closed off like a book that had been sealed for years so the spine was stuck together and it cracked when you tried to open it so Jeff asked all the questions and he ignored it when her answers were short and he just asked another one. “What?” She asked after catching him staring at her for a second too long.
“I was just thinking about how I’d love to see you come back here someday,” he said honestly, no flirtation in his voice that made her question whether or not he was telling the truth because she could tell that he was.
“I live about an hour away, so not likely”
“Well, I’m sure the drive would be worth it for you.” There it was. The flirting. But it was subtle and so was the smile on his face. Just subtle enough for her not to catch but when she did, her pages flipped shut.
“I wouldn’t bet on it.”
The next hour or so went by in a blur. He tells her that he recently started his own little game that he liked to play when he was bored at work. He’d sit behind the bar and guess which drink the person sitting at the bar is going to order and at first he told her he was doing really good and thought, damn that was my hidden talent all along but then he kept failing and now it was a running joke between the employees that the customer was going to order the exact opposite of Jeff guessed. He told her that he thinks they’re all conspiring against him
She tells him that she has a bad habit of making playlists for everything she does. Her music library is filled with playlists that have no names and have been only used once. She’d make one for the drive to the grocery store and the drive to the gym but she’d have a different playlist for actually being at the gym. She had some that were filled with happy music that made her wanna dance and sing but it was rarely ever used. Another for sad music that was played way too often. She had some of her favorite songs from a specific artist and then queue 50 other playlists exactly the same with different artists. Her master playlist and then mini ones she made in the spur of the moment that she just never deleted but they don’t really make sense. None of them really made that much sense.
“Stevie!!! There you are! Have you been sitting here this entire time?” A beautiful brunette came bouncing to the bar, sweat dripping from her forehead and rosy cheeks. Stevie had always been jealous of her bright smile. It was the kind of smile that was in teeth whitening ads and dentists used as examples. She could get anyone with that smile but not Jeff.
“I guess so,” Stevie said, turning to Jeff, who wasn’t even looking at her friend. It was like she wasn’t there and Stevie was the only girl in the room. She then turned to the clock to see that two hours had, in fact, passed and she hadn’t spent any of it with her friends. It wasn’t like they noticed, though.
“Well, Logan just texted me to meet him at this other bar across town so we’re heading out, come on,” her friend said, now looking down at her phone as her acrylic nails clicked against the screen. She was probably texting Logan back: the boy that could make a girl that looked like that seem so little.
“I’ll be outside in a second,” she told her friend, who smiled and then bounced away and back to the group. Stevie groaned and pushed away from the bar and stood from the stool, taking her final sip of tequila and grapefruit juice. “Duty calls. Maybe one of these days I can show you one of those playlists.” She laughed.
Jeff smirked and tilted his head at her. “Is that your way of asking me out?”
“Did it work?” She repeated the same question he asked her. Jeff chuckled and pulled out a napkin from the metal holder that was probably just as sticky as the rest of the bar and he clicked open a pen and wrote his number down on it.
“Call me,” he said, handing it to her. She folded it up and stuck it in her jacket pocket just as the girl with the too bright smile came back and grabbed at her wrist, pulling her out of the bar.
The napkin sat on her dresser, staring at her, taunting her. Calling for her. She put it there at the end of the night, his voice replaying in her brain but she put her keys on top of them and then her sunglasses and it shut up.
She almost lost it once or twice over the course of the next week. Once when she grabbed her keys off the dresser the next day and it flew off without her noticing. When it wasn’t there after work, she was on her hands and knees looking for it until she found it deep under her bed. She let out a sigh of relief even though she knew she wouldn’t call.
The second time she had almost used it. It was in her hand, her thumb tracing over the numbers like she could somehow feel him through them but she was stopping herself from putting the number into her phone and calling it. She always stopped herself. She crumbled it up and threw it in the trash and not even a half an hour later she groaned, pushed herself off the couch where she sat for those 30 minutes contemplating if that was a good choice and started to dig through the trash. She pulled out way too many napkins for a girl living by herself to have in the garbage but none of them had his number on it. She almost gave up until she saw the F in his name sticking out behind a take-out box.
She put the number in her phone that day but still never called it. True to herself, she took the long road and drove all the way the bar where she knew she would find him. The entire hour she regretted her choice to be in that car but she knew that if she didn’t force herself to look him in the eye, she’d never call.
The bar smelled the exact same as she remembered it except this time, it was the middle of the day and empty. But, there he was, standing behind the bar wiping down the counters that were probably still going to be sticky when she sat down but she sat down at the end of the bar anyway and waited,
“Tequila and grapefruit juice, please,” she called out to him, getting his attention. When his eyes landed on hers, they seemed to light up a little bit. He threw the rag down and put his hands on his hips.
“What are you doin’ here?” He asked.
“I was in the area.” She shrugged, crossing her arms in front of her. Jeff pretended to believe her but they both knew that it wasn’t the truth. He didn’t pry though. Instead, he fixed her drink.
“Well, I’m glad you were.” Ice. Tequila. Grapefruit juice. He set it down in front of her and leaned over the bar. “You didn’t call me,” he whispered to her. She stirred the drink and smiled down at it, not looking at him. Now that she was here, the reluctance he had before was gone just like she suspected and now she was feeling brave with the way he looked at her.
“I know.”
“Can I ask why?” He pried, causing her to look up at him through her eyelashes. She fluttered them and took a sip of her drink.
“I probably shouldn’t have even taken the number. If we’re being honest.” And she was being honest. She had thought that same thing every time she looked at it on her countertop but she couldn’t deny the fact that he was on her mind the entire time.
“So then why are you here?”
“I don’t know,” she said, sighing and pushing the drink away from her a little bit. Jeff watched her do so, furrowed his brows and wiped down the little bit that spilled. She didn’t know if she wanted him to give her a reason, to put words in her mouth that’d make her understand herself or if she wanted him to keep pushing until she spilled the real reason she was here: for him. Needless to say, she was disappointed when neither of those things happened.
“Well I’m about to head out,” he said, pushing off the bar and taking off his apron that he had tied around his waist. She didn’t notice it at first but now his hands were all that she could think about.
“Home?” She asked, looking at his hands and her eyes trailed up his stomach and to his face where she was met with the most intense eye contact that either of them had ever experienced and Jeff licked his lips when he nodded and she swallowed hard before choking out the next sentence. “Can I follow you?”
“To my house?” He asked, clear shock in his voice. She nodded. She didn’t blame him for being confused, she was confused herself but she was feeling brave and with his eyes not faltering from hers, all she could see in them was the two of them on top of this bar. “Yeah,” he said, nodding. “I just gotta make a pit stop first.”
“A pit stop?” She asked, suddenly feeling trapped in the many minutes that it would take to make that pit stop. Jeff grabbed a plastic bag with to-go boxes in them from the back counter and met her around the bar.
“I promised one of my customers I’d bring this to her,” he said, lifting the bag up in the air with a smile on his face. “It won’t be long, she lives close.”
“You’re taking me to another girls house?” Flight or fight was kicking in, making her stomach turn and regret sink in. Too much time spent in the car meant too much time thinking about what the hell she was doing and she didn’t know what the hell she was doing.
“Real quick,” he begged with a look on his face she didn’t know how to refuse, but she tried.
“Maybe this was a bad idea.” She got up from the stool and grabbed her bag that she draped over the back of it. Here she was: pushing like her life depended on it. Jeff grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving and she looked up at him.
“You already agreed,” he said, nodding his head towards the door. “Let’s go.”
He kept her arm in his hand until he reached her car and he made her promise that she would follow him because it wouldn’t take long at all and I’m really, really, really glad that you came here today. Much better than a phone call. He thought about kissing her on the cheek but instead, he opened her car door for her.
She followed him around a few blocks, not feeling as reluctant as she anticipated but her hands were gripping the wheel tight, ready to hit a U-turn at any given moment. He was right, it was close, and by the time she pulled over behind him, he was already up the walk to the front door.
She told herself not to look because if she was pretty and young and had gorgeous hair that she would for sure turn around before Jeff even realized she was gone but she had to look because that was who she was. She always looked for a reason to run. She wasn’t young and her hair wasn’t gorgeous in the way that you’d think but she was pretty for an 80-year-old woman. She was frail and her smile caused more wrinkles to show up on her face but she took the food with shaky hands.
Stevie stepped out of her car to get a better look. Maybe hoping to hear them talk but she couldn’t hear much of anything coming from the old lady’s mouth. She leaned against her car door with her arms crossed over her chest and watched Jeff put a hand on the lady’s shoulder and shut the door behind him. “You didn’t tell me she was an old lady,” she teased when he reached her car.
Jeff laughed and shoved his hands in his pockets. “She used to be a regular until she got too old to really do much. I’ve been bring her food a few times a week for the past year or so,” he explained. She smiled at him, in awe really, that he was doing something like that. “I’ve been promising her mozzarella sticks for four weeks now and kept forgetting,” he laughed.
“So you’re unreliable,” she joked, tilting her head back and raising her eyebrows. Jeff bit his lower lip to stop a laugh from escaping but he took a step closer to her, making her nervous.
“I just had a cute moment with an old lady and that what you take from that?”
“A cute moment with an old lady doesn’t define you,” she said, pursing her lips. She knew that she was joking, no matter all the things inside of her that begged her to find a reason to leave. Even if it was as dumb as not bringing mozzerella sticks to an old lady.
“Yeah, and neither does whatever the hell happened to you,” Jeff snapped back. Stevie took a step back, stunned at him but Jeff’s face soon fell with the realization of what he just said and he tried to reach out for her but she put her hands up.
“Wow. Maybe I should leave,” she said, reaching behind her for her car door handle. He was right to call her out because as much as she liked to pretend it wasn’t obvious that she was damaged, everyone could see it from miles away. She could try and hide it with jokes and petty humor but people saw it.
“Wait. No I didn't mean that,” Jeff pleaded with her. She opened her car door, putting distance between her and Jeff but she turned around to look at him. She could see the guilt in his eyes and she hoped that he could see the hurt in hers.
“Sure you did. I’m not some fucked up girl that you can fix, Jeff.” Lies. If he kissed her hard enough, she’d let him fix her.
“I never said that,” he sighed, trying again to reach for her but she shook her head and he stopped.
“You said enough.” She turned to get back in her car and she wanted to shut the door, delete his number and drive home. She cursed herself for even driving out to him because that’s what happens when you let yourself feel something for once. You get hurt.
“I was just like you, ya know,” Jeff spit out as quickly as possible, stopping her from getting into her car. Instead, she snapped her head to him.
“What?” She spat. Cold. Cruel. Annoyed.
“Gaurded and scared,” he started, crossing his arms over his chest and looking at her. “I spent a whole year and a half of my life like that. Too scared to let anyone in and to trust anyone but guess what? It doesn’t work like that. You can’t just go through your life alone.” She opened her mouth to cut him off and defend hereself, by saying what she didn’t know but Jeff shut her up and kept going. “My ex? Just left and didn’t say a word about it. I was gonna marry that fucking girl and she just left and yeah, I was too scared to love like that again and I missed out on a lot. Friends, family, love. At the end of the end, you’re gonna be alone and regretful.”
“Who says I’m anything like you?” She asked, feeling annoyed and attacked and it was probably due to the fact that he was saying the things that hit too close to home for her.
“No one,” he said, shaking his head. “But I played the same game with girls for a long time. Giving them vague answers and never following through on things and when I did, I bailed at the last minute because I was too fucking scared to go through with it but guess what? I’m not the guy you have to be scared to love you.” Her breathing caught and his face went stale starring at her. She wondered if he knew what he had said to her or if he was just ranting and not really listening to his own words.
“We’re using the L word now? Since when?” She asked softly, feeling the need to retreat into her car like a hermit but he face wasn’t changing. The eye contact that convinced her to follow him here was still there and her heart was beating a million miles per hour.
Authors Note: hi guys! This is my first vlog squad Imagine! I have written for other fandoms before but I’m excited to start with the VS! This is Part One of my series called “Goofball”, not sure how many parts yet but a focus on Zane finding love!
I kept rewatching my last vlog, a smile was plastered across my face. A lot of my viewers and fans have been asking if Zane and I were a thing and we finally had to address it. Zane and I composed a video of us telling all of our friends and family that were dating.
I couldn’t hold back a chuckle at my twin brother David’s response, we came over and sat him and Natalie down. Both of them look beyond confused, David’s eyebrow was arched the entire time.
“So ya Davey, I’m uh dating Zane!” I watch myself tell David who was speechless for a good minute.
“Oh my gosh! I knew it! I told you David!” Natalie happily squeals in the vlog as she hugs both of us.
“Holy shit, I thought Zane was just kidding when he asked if it was okay to date you!” David was of course protective over his sister and told Zane not to hurt me or he’ll pay someone to hurt Zane which made us all laugh.
Zane then walked into the bedroom and laid on his stomach next to me, watching the vlog.
“I’m so happy we did this; did you see the comments?” I pushed my laptop towards Zane and watched as he scanned the comments, a mixture of rolling his eyes, laughing and smiling.
“About 85% of these are, I knew it! And one is a comment of a video of us being in love for 12 minutes” Zane and I giggle as he shuts the laptop, pulling me close to him.
“I’m so happy you’re my girl. I’m so lucky.” Zane whispered into my ear before gently kissing my lips.
“Me too, and I’m lucky as well. You’re my goofball.” I reply back, giving Zane a long sensual kiss before he wrapped his big arms around me, pulling me close to him.

plot: y/n moves across the country to (finally) be with her best friend.
a/n: please please please send me some requests!
-
one of the first people david met when he moved to vernon hills was his best friend, y/n. chances are that if you found one of them, the other was close behind. and that was true all the way up to the day that david moved to los angeles in 2015. now, just because david moved halfway across the country does not mean the two fell out of touch with each other, it actually meant the quite opposite.
david made sure to spend as much time as he could with her when he visited home, but when he first moved to los angeles, he didn’t exactly have a bunch of money to come home, so his trips were rare and short. and y/n had no money to spare either, she was a college student afterall. david and y/n texted all day, everyday, and facetimed at least a couple times a week. staying in touch with each other just came naturally to both of them.
when something big happened in y/n’s life, david was the first person she called, no matter what, and same with david. no one really understood the connection the two shared, not his friends in los angeles, nor their friends at home. all of them just kind of assumed that the two were secretly dating and didn’t want anyone to find out due to david’s rising fame. while both of them wished this was true, it wasn’t. both spent years pining after the other, but classically, neither wanted to lose the other if the feelings weren’t returned, so they suffered in silence.
-
now, eventually, y/n graduated college and naturally, she just wanted to be with her best friend. so, for david’s twenty-third birthday, she decided to surprise him by moving to los angeles. so, she called natalie, another one of her best friends, and told her the big news.
“so... as you know, i just graduated.” y/n says into the phone.
“yes, i know. i was there, y/n/n, you know we’re all very proud of you. in fact, i think david has said ‘i’m so proud of her’ more times than I could possibly count.” natalie says, trying to expose the brunette boy.
“well, what would you say if i told you i was considering moving to la?” y/n asks shyly, completely ignoring natalie’s comment.
“what?!” natalie screams into the phone, causing y/n to yank the phone from her ear for a couple seconds. “y/n, oh my god! i’m so excited!” natalie says, with a huge smile.
“really?” y/n asks, “you don’t think david will think it’s weird right? i just don’t want to step on his toes, i know how much he loves it in california.”
“y/n, you don’t know how many conversations i have had about living in california, and how many times he’s almost just jumped on a plane. to see you.” natalie reassures.
“what?” y/n asks softly.
“y/n, david loves you with all of his heart. i really don’t know how you don’t see it. and don’t get me started on how he doesn’t see how much you love him.” natalie adds.
“anyway... i just… miss him… so so so much, natalie. and i have some job offers there, and i’ve been looking at apartments, i think i found a nice one, i’d just need you to go look at it before i got there, if you have time.”
“yes, of course i will, and i know you miss him, because he misses you just as much. i think the hardest part of leaving vernon hills was leaving you, y/n.”
“no, no… he told me already, it was leaving his family.” y/n explained.
“you are his family, y/n. you were his first friend in chicago, and you have stuck through everything with him. you are everything to him, y/n/n.” once natalie finishes, y/n pauses for a long time before she finally answers.
“he is everything to me too, nat.” she says softly, almost scared that natalie will actually hear her.
“i know.” natalie reassures. “anyway! i for one am so excited, i miss having you around, seriously, i need a girls night, away from mr. crybaby.”
“well, i planned on surprising him on his birthday, do you think that would be okay?”
“i think you’ll be his favorite present.”
“okay, okay. i’m actually doing this, huh?”

a couple weeks pass before y/n finally arrives in los angeles. she actually arrives in town the day before david’s birthday, but almost all of the group was celebrating in vegas for the night. natalie managed to convince david to have the celebration the night before, that way y/n had the night to settle in and actually be able to surprise him on his actual birthday, natalie had come up with a lie that david had a very important meeting the day after his birthday and would need to be back to his normal one hundred percent for it.
so, now, it was david’s birthday, and the group got back around noon. y/n was to be at the house at one to surprise david. almost everyone knew that y/n was coming to surprise him for his birthday so they made themselves scarce, wanting to allow them to have a moment when she arrived.
at one, y/n pulled up to david’s in an uber. she walked up the drive and texted natalie that she was there. once she sent the text, y/n took a deep breath, suddenly becoming nervous about surprising him, and finally, she knocked on the door.
she moved to the side so that david would have to open the door to see who was at the door, but it didn’t take long for the door to swing open.
“hello?” david asked, not seeing her yet, but she stepped out of her spot and finally into his line of vision. “y/n?” david asked with an excited smile.
“happy birthday, bub.” she said with a smile before practically tackling him in a hug. “oh my god, i missed you.” she says in his ear, burying her face in his neck. she decided that she wanted the moment to last forever. his arms were secured tightly around her, and she was okay if he never let go.
“what are you doing here? oh my god. how long are you staying? never go back.” he rushes, burying his face in her hair.
“okay.” she agrees with a smile, pulling her head out of his shoulder to look at him, with a bright smile.
“what? don’t mess with my heart like that, bug.”
“i’m not. i moved into an apartment last night. i didn’t want- no. i couldn’t be that far from you anymore, bub.” she says shyly, hoping that he was okay with her moving to halfway across the country. “i would have a long time ago if i could have.”
and david decided, if she was brave enough to move across the country for him, he could be brave enough to kiss her. so, he did.

plot: y/n goes to vegas without david.
a/n: so i changed the request a little bit just for my sake, hope you still enjoy it though!

when y/n turned twenty-four, all her friends from her hometown decided that it was their turn to celebrate with her, so naturally, they decided to meet her in vegas for the weekend. y/n didn’t mean to leave out her friends in los angeles, but no one actually asked her what she was doing for the weekend of her birthday and she never mentioned her plans.
when jason saw that y/n was in vegas, he just assumed that david had taken her with some of the other vlog squad members, and he was one of the only ones being left out, however he was far from being correct. jason messaged david a ‘i know im old, but you know i am always down for a trip to vegas, dave.’
to say david was confused when he got the text, but he quickly came up with a witty response, ‘jase, i know you’re old, but have you lost your mind too?’
next thing david knew, jason was calling him, wondering why david had left jason out of the vegas outing. jason explained that he had seen y/n’s selfie with a vegas filter on instagram and that he felt left out. david quickly explained that he wasn’t with y/n in vegas, and that she hadn’t even mentioned vegas to him.
“david, i don’t know why you’re playing dumb right now, i saw y/n’s story in vegas.” jason says when david answered.
“jase, i’m not in vegas. i’m at home.” david laughs.
“well then explain why y/n is posting pictures in vegas. if you didn’t want me to come, you could just say so, no need to lie about it.”
“i for once am not the one taking people to vegas.” david laughs again, switching to instagram to look at his friend's story. when he scrolls through the stories he finds hers with a picture of her in an uber with a vegas sticker by her head. “but maybe i still will.”
“what?” jason asks, confused.
“maybe i’ll get a group together to suprise y/n in vegas.” david explains, now standing to go find natalie so she can book a couple tickets on the next flight to vegas.
“well, count me in this time.”
“i didn’t even leave you out!” david defends.
“still.” jason pouts.
“okay, okay. I’ll call you back.” david says, ending the call after jason says a goodbye.
before david knew it, he was on the next flight out of lax to vegas within a couple hours. he got carly, zane, heath, mariah, and of course jason to go with him. and based off of y/n’s stories, he figured out the casino that her and (he found out) her hometown friends were at.
now was just finding them in the large crowd. the group roamed the casino and before they knew it, david spotted the y/h/c haired girl within in minutes. they decided to sneak up on her, and her friends saw them before she did, with her back turned.
david snuck up behind her, and with his hands on her waist, he put his head by her’s and whispered, “happy birthday, sunshine.”
y/n turned around with a huge smile, “david! what are you guys doing here?” she said as she went to hug him.
“you didn’t really think you could go to vegas right?” david said with a laugh. “jason called me because he thought you and i went to vegas without him, and i didn’t want him to feel left out you know?” he winked, not letting go of her.
“i’m really glad you guys came.” she beamed, only looking at david, and everyone definitely noticed. “i didn’t mean to make anyone feel left out.” she said, finally looking at the rest who had tagged along.
“i thought we finally were going to get to hang out with you for your birthday though.” one of y/n’s friends complained.
“more the merrier, right?” y/n said, turning in david’s grip to look at her.
“yeah, you’re right.” she finally agreed, just wanting y/n to be happy on her birthday.
-
later that night, y/n was absolutely wasted. the only thing keeping her from the floor was david’s arms that had barely strayed from their spot on her waist since he had found her in the casino. as the night came to a close, they all went to their own hotel rooms, courtesy of david.
david walked the birthday girl to her room, “where is your key?” he asked the drunk girl, who was a giggling mess.
“trying to get rid of me so quick?” she asked, turning once again in his grip to look at him, but this time she placed her arms around his neck.
“never, sunshine.” david smiled, using the nickname again.
“thank you” she says with the same smile that had been on her face since david got there.
“for what?” he asked, confused.
“coming... being you…” y/n whispers, suddenly feeling a lot less drunk, she leans back against the hotel door that they had yet to go through, pulling david with her.
“anything for you.” he whispers back with a smile. her bright smile just seems to get bigger with his words.
before david even knows it, y/n leans forward, giving him a soft kiss, so short, he barely even processed what was happening before she pulled away. david returns a soft (heart-eyed) smile, before leaning down and giving her another soft peck.
“best. birthday. ever.” y/n smiles as david rests his forehead on her’s.

plot: david and y/n prank their friends
-
“okay, so, y/n and i are going to be pranking natalie, toddy, scotty, and jeff today by pretending to get into a huge fight and break up in front of them.” david says into the camera with an unfamiliar girl sitting next to him with her head laying on his shoulder. “oh, did i forget to mention? this is y/n, my beautiful girlfriend.” david laughs, patting her head, the camera cuts to the aforementioned members of the vlog squad sitting in the living room.
“i wanna do something.” david complains sitting up from where his head was placed in y/n’s lap. “we should go to a college party.” now y/n rolls her eyes, like her and david had practiced.
“why so you can go flirt with pretty sorority girls, right in front of me?” y/n says with disdain. natalie’s eyes get big before she shares a look with toddy and then jeff.
“don’t start this again, y/n.” david says, moving to touch her shoulder.
“no. don’t touch me.” y/n stands, now leaving the room and going into david’s, where he follows her with a fake huff. when he enters the room, he closes the door behind him with a smile.
“you’re doing great, babe.” david whispers, and she smiles back before turning and slamming his bathroom door. “y/n, let me in. we need to talk.” he yells, making sure that their friends could hear from the living room.
“leave me alone, david! go find one of your college girls!” she yells back as david pulls her closer with a smile.
meanwhile, in the living room, the group shares looks like ‘this cannot actually be happening right now.’
“this has got to be a prank, right?” scott asks, looking at his friends with a shocked face.
“it can’t be. david and her didn’t plan on telling the fans until their six month anniversary, and that's still two months away.” natalie explains, then she hears the slam of the bathroom door, and david’s scream. “seems pretty real to me anyway.”
“david doesn’t even flirt with girls at parties though, he’s like… head over heels for her.” jeff reasons.
“yeah, this is the first time i’ve even heard the mention of it.” natalie agrees, but shakes her head. “but that doesn’t change the fact that no one even knows who y/n is yet.” natalie whispers.
suddenly david’s door flies open and y/n comes through it with a bag that looks full of her stuff as she heads straight for the front door. “If you walk through that door, we’re done, y/n.” david says, making her stop and turn to look at him.
“well i guess you’ll have an actual reason to party then, huh?”
“y/n, come on-” david starts, but she turns and opens the front door and slams it behind her. the room is silent for a couple beats when the door slams. the group watches david as he stands there, still, watching the door, that his girlfriend went through.
“what the hell are you doing?” jeff asks, making everyone, including david, look at him. “go after her! david, you’re in love with that girl and you’re just going to let her leave without telling her?” david looks behind him, waiting for her to come back through the door. “don’t just stand there like she’s going to come back through that door, dave.” jeff continues, but as soon as he finishes, the door opens again, this time, a smiling y/n comes through the door, making all of the faces of their friends to drop.
“so? how was that, dave?”
“what?” natalie asks, completely confused, but y/n just points to all of the cameras located around the room. and the video cuts to the outro clip.
