I've been going a little bit insane with building this week. Who wants to see my pre-roman iron age longhouse?
:readmore:
Starting out with some shots of the front of the main building.
Entryway - the entryway plays an important role in the building. It's where you greet guests, and perhaps an area you'd make extra nice to show off and control their first impression of you. This place is definitely not done yet.
West-end interior of the main building - living area.
Fireplace in the middle of the room, some food preparation type of area on the north side, and a sleeping area on the south side. The west/south side of the building would be the warmest at the end of the day, with the sun on this side of the building. The space above the living area under the rafters is used for storage.
East-end of main building - stables. Cows are an important resource, and make up a substantial part of a social hierarchy built on accumulation of resources.
Storage of various items under the rafters here as well, of course.
aaand to finish off is the west gable of the house.
More to come!
