In medieval times boys were going to the university at the age of 14 and Tobias in reflection said "some years later" to that time when Jonas created locusts, bells and eidolons, and then he said "soon the country would understand it's own fragility" it's when the rot came. So at the time Jonas had to save all humanity asses he probably was barely 18

We don't know how much time the machine building took but with all the cruelty of rot not more than one or one and a half year maybe??? I can't say much about it lol
