The vast rocky valleys making up the Sirwa mountain range appear somewhat inhabitable and general infrastructure is limited. Once a volcanic plateau, the soil underneath all the rocks and shrubbery is incredibly fertile and when farmed with the right techniques and knowledge, is amazingly plentiful. Quality of farming in this part of the world lends itself not to the sophistication of farm machinery or chemicals, but to the skill and determination of the farmers themselves. This landscape is from the Taliouine Province of Morocco, a region famed for it's ability to grow high quality saffron. My photo essay documenting the saffron harvest of Taliouine will be published in print in Travel Africa Magazine next month and I am currently working on a submission for Gastronomica - the Journal of Critical Food Studies. #morocco #taliouine #saffron #landscape #landscapephotography #amazigh #berber @lensculture @gettyreportage @gettyimagescreative #lovetheworld #traveltheworld #exploretocreate #visualsoflife #passionpassport #vscolandscape #everydayafrica #worldtravelbook #justgoshoot #peoplescreative #lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet @bradtguides #instagoodmyphoto #travelandlife #discoverearth #ourplanetdaily (at Taliouine)
