Quick, Simple Mod Edit: Midge's Develop Feelings

For my good friend @esotheria-sims who recently asked me if I had this available for download, and for anyone else who might be wary of SimPE, here's a minor string edit edit of @midgethetree's Develop Feelings mods.

I didn't touch the code at all, but did change the text strings (in English only, but feel free to translate!) to say "Develop Feelings.../Crush (or Love)" instead of "Develop Crush (or Love)" - this should reduce the chances of them being clicked by accident and derailing your plans. :)

Fully re-compressorized. Includes the following mods: Develop Crush (as well as the childhood crush variant that allows children to crush on each other), and Develop Love. Please check Midge's post linked above for the details. Remove the original mods before adding these to your game; mine have _QuinEdit added, so you'll know which is which.

Quin's Mini Mod Set

I have made a few little mods for my own game, and I thought other simmers might be interested in them. So here's a description of what they each do:

Equinox_NoBillDelivery prevents bills from being delivered. It also (at least in my testing, with my mod cut) prevents the spawning of an NPC mail carrier unless there's non-bill stuff needing delivery, for example a NL restaurant coupon.

Equinox_NoPaperDelivery is the same but with newspapers and paper carrier NPCs. I don't know if it affects hobby magazines - if it does block sims from receiving hobby magazines, let me know and I'll put a new version up!

Equinox_NoToiletPapers is a mod that prevents sims reading newspapers on the toilet. I got so fed up of this in my prehistoric game, so... modder powers activate!

Equinox_NoYoureCrazyAnims replaces the finger-twirl animations, done when a sim sees someone talking to the Social Bunny or Therapist, going into aspiration failure, or just dancing badly, with the "why me?" looking up animation. The text "You're Crazy!" displayed when hovering over the queue icon has been changed to "Oh wow..."

Equinox_SwimwearInSauna and Equinox_SwimwearInSauna_MermaidUndies make sims change into their swimwear, not a towel, when getting into a sauna. Why? Maybe towels are too modern for your game, or you use bodyshapes and it's a bit weird seeing all your sims revert to Maxis shape in the sauna. Or, you know, just Reasons. The mermaid version has sims with @midgethetree's Mermaid Lifestate change into undies instead. It doesn't require Easy Inventory Check, as I used the global "Is sim mermaid?" from Midge's mod to check for the lifestate.

trait_HighlyEmotional is what will probably be the last TS2 trait name replacement from me, since I no longer play with 3t2 traits. However, I did want to replace the "Over-Emotional" trait in case I ever went back to them - the "over" sounds unnecessarily critical to me. It has been changed to "Highly Emotional" instead. Note, this is the collection-only trait, and - as with all traits - requires trait_MAIN from @hexagonal-bipyramid's Traits Project.

All mods are in one zip file, but you're free to delete what you don't want in your game. I promise I won't come chasing you with a pitchfork.

TSM Prayer Stones as Default Stop Signs

Why? Because, in my never-ending quest to make the limitations of TS2 and my worldbuilding work together, I' decided it would be 've been working on reasons for the right-angled roads and square/rectangular lots and terrains in what is meant to be a very pre-modern fantasy setting. I've already established that the roads are aetherways, magical crystal paths that show where it's safe to travel and settle. Then I got thinking... what if crossroads, places where paths converge or separate, have mystical significance?

And so, a very niche upload was born.

I'm sure most pre-modern players use an invisible DR for the stop signs. I used to, until half an hour ago. But I thought it would be a nice touch to have little shrines at the intersections of aetherways. So I made two defaults for the stop signs: one using Peteran prayer stones from TSM, the other using Jacoban prayer stones. They're not perfect... but neither is the Senaverse, so whatever.

You can only use one option, because obviously, defaults work that way. Also note, poly count and texture size are higher than the Maxis stop sign - I couldn't reduce the texture sizes as my Photoshop is kind of nowhere at the moment, and I know nothing about reducing poly count, but to other simmers: feel free to optimise.

Mod: No Body Type Wants & Fears

I’ll admit it, I’m a proud plus sized simmer. So I don’t always appreciate it when my sims roll “get fit” or “get fat” as a want or a fear respectively. Even with the ability to have fitness as a turn-off and fatness as a turn-on, the former is only ever a want and the latter is only ever a fear. I’m tired of this game body shaming my sims. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.

So I did what I always do when a game element frustrates me: mod it away, and share the result. There are two separate mods in the zip file: one that disables the “fitness” want and one that disables the “fatness” fear. You can use one or both, they don’t conflict with each other.

Piqiwi’s Parenthood Patch for Parentless Pixel People

I’ve just discovered a bug in piqiwi’s Parenthood mod over at MTS. If a sim who gets one of the chance cards has no parents whatsoever, such as the premade Newsons, and they get personality changes from the chance cards... it causes a glitch where everyone who was at school resets back onto the lot. Once an error log had ben generated I was able to fix it by adding a couple of lines into the BHAV, and since piqiwi hasn’t been active on MTS in ages, I’m sharing it here. If they return and object to my sharing it, I’ll remove it.

What has changed: The filename, so downloaders know it’s an edit (and so I don’t forget it myself!) and the BHAV 'Sub - Parenthood - reward personality' which has had a false target added to node 0x6, the Get Parents line, so if no parents are found it will set the next two temp values to 0 instead of returning error. Everything else is untouched.

Download (SFS) - full credit goes to piqiwi at MTS for making the mod, which was inspired by the TS4 character values system in the Parenthood game pack. Warning though: do not attempt to combine this mod or their mood swing mod with any version of Chris Hatch’s religion mod. I found out the hard way that they edit the same unused data in different ways that will destroy your save if combined. Have fun and enjoy your day :)

Default Replacement Text for Good and Evil Traits

So my game just assigned the Evil trait to an NPC. “Evil” is a pretty heavy word, hence why I rarely use the trait myself; the Good/Evil trait thing also feels too much like an alignment system, which I don’t particularly like. What’s a modder to do? Replace the text, of course! For other simmers like me who dislike the implications of those terms, I’ve uploaded my replacements here (SFS).

The Good trait is now called Generous - that is the only change I made to the name and description. Evil, however, got a moderate description change as well as becoming the Devious trait. Its catalog text now reads “Devious Sims take great delight in planning the misfortune of others and prefer to lead a life of scheming and manipulation.” Reference to liking the darkness was removed, because I see no reason why dark automatically has to be bad. I like lying in a darkened room and practising mindfulness. Besides, racist overtones much, EA?

Mod: No Auto Admire Unless Friends

A quick little mod I whipped up just now for @nathanaelroyale​ - we both had a problem with our nicest sims tanking relationships by trying to “Appreciate - Admire” complete strangers.

My changes: I added a check for autonomy. User directed admires can still happen if the interaction is usually available. If the interaction is NOT being directed by the player, it will check the relationship between the two sims and only allow it if they are at least friends.

Modifies the BHAV “Social - Appreciate - Admire - TEST” and will conflict with any mod that does the same.

Merry Christmas! Hope everyone, regardless of what (if anything) you're celebrating today, has a lovely day and a good start to the new year.

Today I have two gifts for you all! The first is this finished request for @pockethamster at the GoS Wishing Tree: a skinblend (of sorts) of Furbyq's Cactus Plantsim overlay with Noodlesims' Honey Apple Crisp skins. Credit of course goes to @furbyq-sims and @noodlesims - if either has an objection to this mashup of their work, I'll remove it, but for now the direct link is here at SFS and the details are in this post on the GoS thread. Preview pics will come, once we're done with our family celebrations.

The second gift is this: Kulo Sena is returning in the new year! I'll have proper introductions to everyone and their stories this time, and I'll try not to need to rebuild for a while. There may also be preview pics for my hood coming over the next few days...

Anyway, enough rambling! I'm off to zizz before my uncle gets here.
