V U L N E R A S T T I ( . plotted starter from carol )
it had taken a little convincing -- turns out alana still wasn’t entirely thrilled to let carol fly her everywhere, much less across a few states in one go. but if it isn’t home, nothing felt as close to it as lousiana. & there’s something very special there that deserved to be shared, particularly on an occasion such as this.
but here they are, & she’s never felt her heart quite as full as this in a very, very long time. her hand is entwined with her lovers, other arm wrapped around a teddy bear as tall as herself on the insistence that it’s ‘ bigger than me, i couldn’t possibly carry that giant thing around all night. ‘ & in alana’s other hand is a turkey leg nearly the size of her head.

she’s more surprised that alana had walked through the dirt & grass in kitten heels like an absolute champ. “ have you been here for mardi gras before? “ she asks, head bobbing to the tune of the creole band hitting up a tune on the stage they’re just passing. a glance to the small brunette’s face, completed with gold & green face paint & a greasy chin, still happily tearing away at the turkey leg. nose wrinkles in delight -- never has she been more in love!
“ i used to come here when i was younger. “ she admits, nodding to the go-kart track in the distance. not every memory was the best, but she loved it none the less. “ & then maria & i would bring monica here almost every year. i was pie eating champ for two years straight. “ she grins, chest puffing proudly. “ might try to regain my title. what do you think? “
