꒰ㅤvulnerorㅤ..ㅤ𐂯
ㅤ►ㅤa person that enjoys experiencing bodily harm, usually with an absence of physical pain, either in fantasy context or consensual practice. the name directly translates to "i am wounded" in latin, with little suggestion of experiencing pain
꒰ㅤdistinction from masochismㅤ..ㅤꉂ ᵎᵎ
ㅤ►ㅤmasochism is defined as deriving enjoyment from being in pain. vulnerorists may enjoy seeing injury on their body but they are either uninterested in or distressed by the idea of being in pain. for this reason vulnerorists are completely out of place in masochist circles, where the primary focus is pain. depending on the person vulnerorists may be pain hyposensitive, or exclusively engage with their interests through fantasy. most people consider pain and injury to be synonymous with each other but fantasy and having a reduced ability to feel pain are just two examples of how vulnerorists separate the two experiences. masochism can also have a sexual connotation depending on how it's being used. vulnerorism is not inherently sexual
with such a massive gap between masochism and vulnerorism it's understandable that there needs to be a different community for vulnerorists altogether. to the uninformed vulnerspec identities may seem redundant but the distinction is relevant and necessary
