How Vvardvarks Are Marsupials
by popular* request...
Gorne wolves are not actually wolves, mainly since large mammals can't really survive in Morrowind due to its unique ecology and landscape (hence why it's mostly lizards and giant insects and also literal Daedra; rats notwithstanding) and their total isolation from where wolves could possibly exist in or around Morrowind is a little suspicious.
So instead, it is possible that they are thylacines. Mostly because of their fur pattern (stripes) and their habitat.
To be specific, thylacines that evolved into "Gorne wolves" from a much smaller indigenous marsupial species through island gigantism. This smaller (and likely insectivorous) marsupial species could've possibly been a numbat or a fantasy variant.
There's those stripes again! Never mind the overall anatomy of the animal.
This could be the same "ashlands stock" that Magister Varkenel has mutated into the vvardvark, which would track with its diet and anatomy.

Dark Elf/Dunmer headcanons: Dunmeri/Chimeris
By the middle of the 2nd Era Ald Chimeris had evolved into three distinct dialects, all mutually understandable, and none the major language of their respective regions.
From least to most spoken:
The Mainland or Deshaan Dialect, mostly spoken amongst the two mainland ashlander tribes
The Ashlander Dialect spoken by the Ashlanders of Vvardenfell
The Vvardenfiil Dialect spoken by House Redoran, House Hlaluu, and other lesser houses.
By the beginning of the third era the Deshaan Dialect had five fluent speakers
By the end of the third era, the Deshaan had a single speaker (our QUEEN Barenziah), and both the Ashlander and Vvardenfiil dialects were severely endangered.
After the Red Year, the Ashland dialect was particularly affected, and Vvardenfiil was favored by both Ashlanders and House Dunmer who had survived the disasters. Because of this convergence of Nomadic and Settled Dunmer, the two dialects reconverged, forming the New Vvardenfiil Dialect. By 4E 200, it was the most common language spoken on Vvardenfell, although it still had very few people who spoke it as a first language (only about 1,000-2,000).
