This car is a fourth generation (1999-2005*, known as A4) Volkswagen Jetta, generation also known as Bora.

hi! me again! ive been going through your other posts :) (it’s just like me to be browsing cars while i’m at work, repairing cars)

i know the mk4 golf and its derivatives weren’t very nice… people don’t like them as much as other gens, but for some reason i really like the look. apparently they ruined the ride for the mk4s. the saloon version of the golf changed over each generation in the UK, mk1 and 2 were the jetta, 3 is vento, 4 is bora, and 5 onwards is jetta again.

the mk4 is my fave, as i’ve said. given that they’re the same platform, what i really want to do is swap the bonnet, wings, headlights and bumper from a golf onto the bora… cuz i love saloons, but i prefer the front end of the golf. then i’d put the VR5 or VR6 in it >:) sorry for infodumping in your inbox, theres only an hour left of work and nothing to do

Do you also apologize when you wet puddles? xD When I answered that ask I was literally about to write "The only thing I could think of doing with one of those would be to swap the R32 bits onto it to get an R32 wagon" (I do often prefer wagons to saloons). I may like the Bora headlights better but if they are not compatible with the R32 bumper they are GOING.

Also you're right!!! It was the Bora! I misremembered. And yes, I can confirm the rest of the naming too at least for other parts of mainland Europe. Fun fact about the names: Vento is Italian for wind, and Bora is a wind!
