No one’s ever looked you in the face and said, “We’re not like you.” — Fiend in Wien ✘ The World/Inferno Friendship Society
♞ ▎ An enigma. That was the best way to describe one of the more curious recruits who had settled into the Police. She was an odd bird, Annie Leonhardt. Granted, most of the newbies (and oldbies for that matter) were strange. They had maybe one to many quirks for Nile’s liking on occasion. Really? Honestly? Garden variety anything was a testament to the current state of Basic and just what was scooting around outside of Sina since the slew of assaults by the Titans.
Was it a bad thing…? Probably not in the long run. Just like the rest of the Police, they would be forced into bending at the knee by the government like anyone else who had gone into the branch bright-eyed and bushy-tailed like he had at one point.
Regardless, the best way to get to know his soldiers (which he tried hard to not to do) was to pick them apart in an assessment. Everyone was getting one anyway, so it was as good a time as any to get it out of the way whilst learning a thing or two about one of the coldest creatures who had ever crossed his path during roll call.
Nile’s memo had been sent. Footsteps pervaded the silence in the hall outside of his office. Soon she was seated in front of him as he thumbed through her file.
"I can’t make this quick but just work with it," he sighed and tapped a finger at the paper, "Why did you choose this branch, Leonhardt…? According to your statistics, you look better-suited for the Scouts." The tired gray of his eyes washed over her, awaiting an answer.
