Hold me - Fanfic writer problems

Hoo boy, just finished the chapter that starts with Darillium and ends at the beginning of the Snowmen and my throat hurts.

not literally. Just in an angsty, PMS-y, writing the Darillium bits sort of way.

Wahhhhhhhhhh

D'you ever re-watch episodes (or bits of them) while writing fanfic, to get the right mood or to remind yourself of a specific expression on someone's face? Because you can look up dialogue on the Internet, but facial expressions and body language not so much.

So anyway, in my current fic I have Team TARDIS Eleven Era going back to the end of Series 4, to help out with the daleks on earth during TSE/JE. So I watched the ends of those two, just to remind myself where everybody ends up and that always makes me cry because of the Donna-erasure thing. 

AND because one of the people in my fic is Jack Harkness and I have this angsty scene in my head, I have to go watch - is it Day Four? - of Children of Earth, specifically Ianto's death scene, to get a few little things right.

Why do I do this to myself?
