Wade had always found it difficult to stay still, but when Gwen promptly fell asleep on him while they watched a rerun of Golden Girls, he was surprised that he found it easy to not move much for an hour. He’d look down at her sleeping face from time to time, marveling at how peaceful this scene looked; it was like a situation right from a sit-com, or a YA book. He smiled to himself, letting Gwen get her rest and wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

After a while, when he looked back down at her face, her eyelids fluttered open, and her eyes still looked hazy from sleep. Wade laughed quietly at her, but patted her head. “It’s okay, Gwen-doll. You can use me as a pillow all you want. Nothing wrong with a bunch of Z’s.”

Gwen never fell asleep on people--if she was hanging out with friends, no matter how tired she was, she would try to stay awake with them. But she'd been working long shifts all week, and though she loved the show Golden Girls wasn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world and before she knew it she was asleep on Wade.

When she woke up she rubbed at both her eyes, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Sorry, so so sorry," she yawned, still somewhat hazy from her nap. "No, I'm fine now," she insisted as she stretched both arms above her head, "but maybe we should do something else so I don't fall asleep again."
