(True story: On a family vacation stricken with car trouble, my cousins and siblings spent most of July 4th, 1965, stuck in Waelder when our '61 Volkswagen bus blew a cylinder. While my father and uncle went back to Houston for help, we sat under shade trees in the Waelder school yard, and trekked up to this very gas station to buy Dreamsicles to cool off. They sold out.
